The Meg is in theaters this past week I think (probably like Jaws but with a megalodon for the shark,) and somehow it's made over $200 million worldwide already. There's just something about sharks in horror movies that seems appealing these days. Ever since Jaws first appeared. Though most are of the B movie variety. Right now Syfy channel is showing all sorts of shark movies like Zombie Shark, Ghost Shark, Frenzy and even Santa Jaws. There's also the Sharknado series with the sixth and final movie (I doubt it,) showing earlier this month or last. I think Cinemassacre.com has a video of 50 different shark movie recommendations somewhere on that site. Will we see a remake of Jaws anytime soon?

I don’t think Spielberg will let that happen.

I don't think we'll see a remake of Jaws but I do wonder if you could "Jurassic World" Jaws and makes a sequel that would be a "soft reboot"
So the original Jaws still happened a long time ago but ignore all the sequels, so it's decades later and Amity has been visited by another vicious great white shark (which would be more plausible now that's been decades and not right after like Jaws 2) and now a new generation of characters has to hunt it.
If you treated it seriously and first and foremost a character driven movie, like the original, you might be able to make a good movie, on the other hand Jaws is basically a perfect movie and I don't know how you could do another movie without it feeling like a carbon copy or an inferior version, like all the sequels.
But at the same time while I don't think you could make a movie that would be equal with the original, enough time has passed that you might be able to make a good movie if you had the right filmmakers involved.
