Monster Tale on DS! Part Wonderboy, part Pokemon, part Metroid, part... dunno, Mega Man? It’s a really, really good platformer IMO.

You mentioned Hotel Dusk. Do you have the sequel, Last Window? I don't, no. Wasn't it PAL only?

Original DS games were region-free, and will work on any DS or 3DS. I bought a copy like seven years ago and still have yet to play it, but it definitely works!

Okamiden DS was generally well received as a sequel to Okami.

Did they change Shiren the Wanderer much from the SNES game or is it more of a port?

Okamiden DS was generally well received as a sequel to Okami. Really? I always hear people disregard it. Must be salty it wasn't on PS3 or something. I heard it was good for a sequel. Did they change Shiren the Wanderer much from the SNES game or is it more of a port? According to this Wiki sourced interview this version has been reworked and has a new bonus scenario. www.engadget.com/2008/02/26/sega-asks-shiren-the-wanderer/

Is the Aliens DS game any good? That was a Way forward title, yeah? It's very good though I was disappointed in a couple of things, I was expecting a full on Metroidvania but it's way more linear than that, it's more of a linear game sprinkled with a few Metroidvania elements (basically, the Sulaco acts as a hub and is where the Metroidvania elements come into play, but you also visit a series of basically linear levels) And the gimmick of character perma death basically translates to reloading saves since who wants to lose their fav characters? It's supposed to make the game more tense but it's really just a pointless gimmick. But the game looks gorgeous and your reward for beating it is a funny tongue in cheek rock song about Aliens during the credits (sample lyrics: "They mostly come out at night!") Definitely worth playing. Also the Castlevania trilogy on DS are must owns.

I tried getting through Okamiden twice, and stopped both times because I was just incredibly bored by it. It is not bad, just kinda meh. Maybe the problem's just that it was incredibly overhyped as one of the last big DS-Releases... I had the same problem of being underwhelmed by the other late hype-release Solatorobo. And to a lesser extend Xenoblade on the Wii.

I enjoyed Solatorobo, mostly for the setting.

I also enjoyed both Solatorobo and Okamiden. Though I'll admit Okamiden was not as good as the original. Solatorobo I'm not sure which I liked better. They both had ups and downs.

I picked up a copy of Legend of Legacy because it's apparently basically a SaGa game and that's like crack to me. If I like it well enough I'll probably get Alliance Alive too.

I picked up a copy of Legend of Legacy because it's apparently basically a SaGa game and that's like crack to me. If I like it well enough I'll probably get Alliance Alive too. (I suspect you've read all of this before from various sources, but:) I am a great fan of Legend of Legacy, but it can be pretty divisive, even amongst SaGa fans who might otherwise be more open to it than most. Although SaGa fans are probably less likely to be bothered by the fact that it's hard. But it's maybe not as mechanically complex as some would like and there isn't much of a story in the traditional sense. It's really about exploring the island and discovering its history. It's almost a dungeon crawler. Etrian SaGa.
The Alliance Alive is more traditionally story oriented. It's also not as challenging. I guess it would generally be seen as a safer choice.
As for DS/3DS recommendations, I think just about every one I would make has been covered: The DS Castlevanias, the DS/3DS Dragon Quests (although, I have to admit, I'm not a fan of the modern translation style, even if I appreciate it conceptually - and I'm one of the weirdos who actually prefers the PS1 version of VII), Etrian Odyssey series, etc.
I think the only game that hasn't been mentioned here that I have a tremendous fondness for is Ever Oasis. It's flawed, but charming and distinctive. I admit I can forgive just about anything in a game for an interesting world, though.
