This thread is for giving examples of title screens that we find cool or memorable, even if the games themselves aren't.
Resident Evil games have some memorable title screens, considering that almost every game has a disembodied voice shouting "RESIDENT EVIL" when you press Start. The title screens for the Revelations games are memorable because they emphasize a creepy eyeball. Creepy eyeballs were associated with the first RE, and Revelations seems to bring that back a bit.
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City may not be a... great game, but it had a creepy monster fetus on the title screen, which was pretty cool.
The first Silent Hill game had a startling sound on the title screen when you loaded the game up.
I remember the title screen for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain because it shows Snake and his most recently used partner on the chopper between missions.

I'd like to give a shout-out to QIX, specifically the Amiga port, whose title screen is so wonderful that it is gave our Discord server one of its custom emoji.

The title screens to the early Ys games, particularly the TurboGrafx CD versions, always evoked a great sense of otherworldly fantasy to me. Actually even more so than the games themselves (though they are great games, Wanderers from Ys notwithstanding).

Shin Megami Tensei III having the demon hoard in the shadows in the back slightly moving back and forth is pretty cool.
Persona 4 and 5 have super stylish title sceens too.

Good call on Nocturne -- that was the first title screen that came to mind, for me. The second was this one. Which I assume counts, since "best" doesn't just mean "best-looking," but can also mean "best-sounding," right? Similarly, there's also this title screen. Which admittedly does LOOK pretty cool as well, but... I mean, let's face it, it's not the graphics that are the standout here. Not by a long shot! -Tom

Mystic Ark on Playstation 1. I find the title sequence to be dreamy and hypnotic. Just a fantastic, otherworldly soundtrack in this game. The kind that tugs on the soul.

Unreal's fly-by demo. Admit it, you'd rather let it go for one spin before "pressing ESC to begin".
When NES is concerned, Batman and Kickmaster have astonishing title screens for this console.

The title screen in Faxanadu always makes me so very happy and pumped for adventure. It has the logo (which is a lovely logo too), a depiction of the entire game world (albeit not very detailed, but still) and the music is pretty incredible.
The title screen is, dare I say it, better than the actual game that comes with it.

Awww, not a fan of Faxanadu? I love that game!
But I do agree, its title screen is great. And good choices all around, too -- I almost mentioned Owlboy myself.
Also, the mention of Faxanadu got me thinking: Legacy of the Wizard! Not the NES version, which has just a plain and ordinary title screen, but the MSX2 version. If you've never seen its title screen before, check it out -- it's pretty badass, and is the first indication I had that the MSX2 version of the game is the best (a statement which I had confirmed after playing through the game in its entirety!):

Wow, that MSX Dragon Slayer IV/Legacy of the Wizard screen is really cool!
Here's another pick for me - Revenge of Shinobi. Pretty awesome, digitized graphic goodness and movement; even a credit to Marvel for blatantly using Spiderman as a boss (but no credit to DC for taking "Bat" man of the same boss fight?)

Awww, not a fan of Faxanadu? I love that game! I do actually like (most of) Faxanadu quite a bit! I just find the controls and movement of the protagonist to be very annoying. It manages to be both stiff, loose, very jerky, too slow and too fast at the same time. But the overall atmosphere is one of the greatest ever in an NES game. It’s quite unsettling in places and has an almost Dark Souls quality to parts of its world and storytelling... Remake please?
