Solstice > Equinox (Solstice 2 in Europe) Equinox is also the game's European title. However, I think it's Solstice II in Japan. Warlocked > Wizards (unreleased) Shadow of the Comet > Prisoner of Ice (some versions have an added "Call of Cthulhu") Castlevania > Vampire Killer > Haunted Castle (could be considered spin-offs, same name in Japan)

Shard of Spring > Demon's Winter Also Wizard's Crown - > Eternal Dagger and probably some SSI warsims Panzer Strike! - > Typhoon of Steel By Koei: Uncharted Waters > New Horizons (Uncharted Waters name appears when booting up, but not on cover) Infocom: Enchanter -> Sorceror -> Spellbreaker Some other Infocom games share a theme or engine, not sure to what extent these would qualify as sequels though (e.g. the Infocomics).

Wonder Boy > Monster Boy Flying Hamster > Monster Boy
I've written about the odd connection between these three in the past.

I believe Capcom has now officially settled on the title Wolf of the Battlefield, even listing Mercs (and maybe Commando?) as such now.

Equinox is also the game's European title. However, I think it's Solstice II in Japan. The game was designed in both regional variants simultaneous. I know the US and the Japanese ROMs, and I presume the European as well, contain both Japanese and English localization data for much of (but not all) the content (font, text, title screen). Including en entire plotline I don't think was used. (I want to guess at some point they planned to make the towns actually explorable and not just simply the dungeon entrances.)
