I don't like the original, but I'm looking forward to the remake. The remake already looks like it fixes the main problem with the original, which is the way it forces you to just fight a million enemies screen by screen by forcing you into a dumb fighting stance that makes you walk super slow. Looking at the footage, anyway, it seems like a more open, standard ARPG world, and the fighting seems more fluid. Usually I don't like remakes, but I hate the original Seiken Densetsu III - hate it - and this honestly seems better. Visual style is kind of Dragon Quest-ish, too, which is a plus for me. Yeah, it already looks a lot better/more fun to play. I also don't mind the general look of it. It's aesthetically in the vein of but not quite as cheap looking as the Adventures/Secre remakes.

Bah. Nothing is worth getting hyped for anymore. And nobody seems to have been completely happy with any of Square's updated ports lately. (They still didn't fix the Steam version of FF6 to a satisfactory degree, did they?) Square has never truly fixed any of their PC ports e.g. FF6 still has he hideous mobile sprites. Also, did you notice how none of then ten or so screenshots of Chrono Trigger on the Steam store page has a single letter of in-game text, or shows the battle interface? That's deliberate - to hide how ugly it looks.

It's a serviceable port now.

The little bit of gameplay I saw looked pretty good! If anything I hope they fix the leveling system - I never really cared for it.
