Happy New Year! So now that we've entered the 202X, let's talk about 198X.
I share most opinions with JDarkside on this game, but I was even more harsh on it: I feel it's beautiful (both pixel art and tunes) but very shallow and empty, it left nothing in me and even the arcade games became almost a chore instead of fun diversions in their own right. It's ridiculously short (about 2 hours) and what's worse the dev team mentioned at the last possible second that it was going to be an episodic game and not a stand-alone title. I'm glad I was not a Kickstarter backer or else I would have felt cheated.
The voiceover is annoying and the story amounts to a bunch of nothing about a disaffected kid, with games somehow becoming "real", or is all a hallucination on his part? Let's find out in the next chapter(s)... or maybe not, I don't have any interest in revisiting it.
(trivia: other than the not-SHODAN cameo, there's also another cameo at the end of the ninja game, a spirit looking very similar to Kaonashi/No Face from "Spirited Away")
