In the seven years they produced games for the NES from 1986 to 1993, were there any that were developed but never released?

I have no idea but that’s a great question. Games get cancelled constantly fir random reasons, so there may be some. There’s ones like Knight Lore that we’re released in Japan only.

Rare is hardly an obscure developer. (How many other developers release something like Rare Replay?) If there was something developed but never released, it would have been documented and discussed to death by every Youtuber and columnist looking for attention.

Would the planned follow-up to Wizards & Warriors III, Lasersword, count? I don't think it ever went in to production, though.
