Just saw your article. The first game sounded really progressive with the Black female cop and all while the second game is basically like the cops fighting the Antifa stuff these days. Why isn't the first game available digitally anymore?

Might as well get a link in here. www.hardcoregaming101.net/urban-chaos/Just saw your article. The first game sounded really progressive with the Black female cop and all while the second game is basically like the cops fighting the Antifa stuff these days. Why isn't the first game available digitally anymore? Probably because it is buried in Square-Enix's back catalog where no one bothers to tread. Wikipedia notes that the source was made available a few years ago. github.com/dizzy2003/MuckyFoot-UrbanChaos

This is a Prey situation (which I am also currently writing about lol) where a game with the same title held by the same publisher was made by a completely different studio, where there's a shared common theme but is otherwise a completely different thing.
I also wouldn't call either game progressive, there's a lot of ableism and stereotyping in the first one, it's just overshadowed by how ridiculous the plot gets. As for the second, it does have a subversive twist, but that twist doesn't really change the role of the police in the narrative. It's why I think I used a Robocop comparison in there, in that there's clear satire, but the satire is easily mixed up the more you think about it.
