Yes that's him, thanks! Another Western pixel artist that does nice stuff, for example Mystik Belle, is Andrew Bado. (also I'm following links right now and I noticed that Bumpyroad already posted one of his games) He among others also worked on the recent 198X, that has some pretty great pixel art but to me was quite shallow and uninteresting as a game proper. Also, when will part 2 and the rest ever come out?

Prettiest thread on the net! I thought about Steel Assault the other day, but had forgotten the title. So thanks for reminding me! Lame title aside, the game looks great, kinda like Bionic Commando and Contra Hard Corps had a baby.
edit: Shatterhand was also clearly involved in the act of procreation, somehow...

The manual art for Gynoug/WoW is also worth checking out.
I don't quite like the Mulana remake's and sequel's look, in motion they look kinda cheap and sloppy like a 90s PC freeware game. Mainly because of the mixed in particle effects, the flash-like animation on large sprites and the high res but less clearly defined looking environments that are sort of detached from the sprites.

I played for a review the SNES hack n' slash Melfand Stories. As a game it is not that great, but I adored the graphic style, all pastel colors and halfway between an anime and an illustrated book for kids, with an excellent use of colors: It's not a masterpiece of pixel art per se, but currently I'm playing a game called Dark Fear, a horror point-and-click adventure with very slight RPG elements. It does a great job of imitating adventures from the early 90s, especially Sierra ones, and titles from DOS and C64:[/div]

The first one's sprites remind me a bit of Whirlo as well.

The first character in Melfand Stories looks a lot like Oliver in Ni No Kuni to me - not that it's the most unique design I'd never really paid attention to Zanac x Zanac before but that art is stunning.
