Thank you for this article. It is a favorite of mine as well, and I fully agree that TIM2 is the pinnacle of the series. Once I got hooked on it, I barely looked back at the first version. Sid&Al is a nice distraction. Contraptions is pretty, but does not innovate. It may be easier to get running on modern Windows, though.

I vaguely remember the old articles on the site and I wonder what caused Capcom to think that the GnG universe was a match for Incredible Machine-styled puzzles. It may well be one of the weirdest cross-overs I can think of!

I should get back to playing the first one, I think I got stuck at some point but it's really a great and creative game. Good article.
A newer one that sort of scratched the same itch (but is a lot easier) is Cut the Rope for iphone.

Wow! I didn't even know there was a sequel. This was one of the first games I had on my own PC. Great write-up~ I really enjoyed this kind of creative puzzle game.
