I am going to start a entry on "other" sports games within the next few days. Games based on sports that most people have probably never played a game based on. I will also try to stick to the most simplistic games. Many people will be intimidated by the games being based on sports they are not familiar with as it is, so simplicity will make them better introductions. It seems a bit too much to ask people to spend money on a game or time downloading it if it has complex rules that will prevent them from getting directly into it. I will only be discussing the "cream of the crop", but I will be playing as many of these as I can find. It would be much easier if people could name as many of these kinds of games as possible.

Not so strange since it's a sport that is popular in Europe.

Dodge Ball is kinda lesser played and known.
Mutant Leage games were quite odd because they are based off of a fictional leage.
At the time Tony Hawks Pro Skater could be considered odd as skate boarding wasnt that big before it.
But really none of these are that odd maybe I'll think of some better ones later.

There are dozens of cricket games. I may or may not discuss cricket games. It arguably merits doing it because Americans generally are not even aware of what cricket is.
I am quite fond of dodgeball games. I will be discussing dodgeball games that are not already discussed at this site.

There are multiple other games based on curling. You would be amazed at the kind of sports games that are out there. That is why I am going to do this write up.

Appare Gateball is based on a Japanese croquet vatiant called gateball. I have played that game and it will most likely be among the games that are discussed.

Not so strange since it's a sport that is popular in Europe. Don't know where you got that idea, Cricket is pretty much unknown outside of Great Britain.

Windjammers (Neo-Geo), includes frisbee/dog toss Flip Shot (Neo-Geo), supposedly like Wind Jammers but differently implemented There's a terrible PC-Engine Kickball I met someone who wrote a windsurfing game in New Zealand The medieval football game (Pigskin Football?) where if you sucked after the first half they would give you a troll on your team and the game chanted "Troll! Troll! Troll!". It came out in the arcade as well as on the Genesis California Games has hackey sack and roller skating Might be stretching it, but there are a bunch of games based on The Running Man.
Why has no one done a sim of the ancient Mayan ball game?
Are there any lacrosse games? Jai'lai?
I did a search for PC-E sports games and unfortunately the game with "Bullfight" in the title was about boxing. What about Stampede for the 2600?
Ninja Golf for the 7800
Tsuppari Ozuma Heiseiban is apparently a sumo simulator for the PC-E
Does Lee Trevino's Fighting Golf count?
Wallaby is a kangaroo sports game, but I don't know what type of sports are featured
There are lots of jockey games

Not so strange since it's a sport that is popular in Europe. Don't know where you got that idea, Cricket is pretty much unknown outside of Great Britain. I'm not sure how accurate this is, but Wikipedia seems to disagree with that. "In the countries of South Asia, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, cricket is the most popular sport. It is also a major sport in places such as England and Wales, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Bermuda, and the English-speaking countries of the Caribbean, which are collectively known in cricketing parlance as the West Indies." It appears that cricket is not popular in other parts of Europe, but I wasn't sure and I do know that it's popular in the UK. I probably should have said UK, but I was pretty sure that wasn't the only place where Cricket was played. Anyway, there are plenty of developers in the UK, so it's not really too surprising that there are games based on it in that region. I didn't mention multi event sports games, but some of them do have some sports like fencing, curling, speed skating, luge, bobsled, gymnastics, and various other sports in them. Also, it's not really a sports game, but I was tempted to say Ouendan because some consider cheerleading a sport. One thing that's interesting is that betting on horse races is well known in the US, but not many horse racing games reach the US.

Dammit I have to recommend Great Swordsman again. At least the judges look like five Hitlers.
