Pilotwings Resort on 3DS was the last one back in 2011. One of the best uses of 3D on the system alongside Rusty's Real Deal Baseball. There was also a rejected pitch for a combat spinoff for Wii. I think it was from Factor 5, but I might be misremembering.
For Final Fight, it has too much missing content so I'd go with a C. Not unplayable but there's not much reason to revisit it these days when the arcade game is $2 in Arcade Stadium.

I'll give Pilotwings a C, and sorry for the lag (was playing through Earthbound and finally got to this one a couple of days ago). I thought I might be kind of bored but overall the game is pretty tightly designed and expects high performance fairly quickly. Actually a sandbox mode would've been kind of neat here as I didn't like having to redo all sub levels when failing a single one. The range of vehicles/modes is pretty impressive for 1990 and it's interesting how some of the bonus levels are technically like a very early 3D platformer where you can only bounce - this concept could've been fleshed out more I thought. I like how there's a map and a secondary camera angle (for some) and the illusion of 3D works quite well when moving in the air - not as well near the ground or objects where it becomes hard to judge distances and it can be tricky to judge your trajectory as well thinking you're in line at first but as you get very close you're apparently not. Hard mode is cool in that there are new levels and backgrounds, but I found it a bit too hard with certain vehicles, I wasn't a fan of the hangglider levels for the most part. So I'm content with the regular levels finished even though that meant I was done in less than 2h I think. It starts becoming noticeable how mode 7 games don't have buildings or other large objects, and how this one is a solitary single player experience besides those ground turrets in the chopper levels. But that gets me excited to try PW64! -- Final Fight I haven't played that far into on SNES, with it being 1-player and having some other issues like no guy, one missing segment, some slowdown and fewer enemies on screen. But it's a decent port for the time with some nice music interpretations.

This one is a spin off of The Great Battle series as I understand it. I thought it would be worth covering prior to those due to the small number of pinball games on the platform. I need to put a bit more time into it to give more of an opinion but I did play it a decent amount a while back. If anybody has a translation of any of the box art text that would be helpful.

Cool! Yeah the SNES doesn't have a ton of pinball games, so I was interested to play this especially since I have never heard of it. It's one of those pinball games that doesn't really try to be a true simulation of a pinball table but rather is more like Kirby's Pinball Land or the Naxat games with targets wandering about the table and bosses and whatnot. I don't know anything about the Super Robot Wars series except there seems to be thousands of characters. I like pinball but I hardly know enough about it to really analyze the tables in this game so I'll just say it's fun. B.

I'd go so high as an A for Battle Pinball. It's a fun concept, and you do get multiple themed tables which is always nice. Plus, each table is actually beatable unlike the Alien/Devil Crush which only have maxing out the score as the goal.

I'm going to go with an A too. It's funny, I like physical pinball tables but pinball simulation video games leave me cold. I really have a soft spot for these arcade style interpretations of pinball that take advantage of the medium. This one has a nice set of boards to keep things fresh and I enjoy all of them here. ommadawnyawn2 - Thanks for the suggestion. Yeah, I don't want to pay for a service for a translation so I'll just leave it unless another member comes back with something.

It's been a few years since I played this last but I have never been able to get into Aero even around it's release. All the pieces of a good game are there but in the end it really doesn't come together. It's a long game too, about 2 hours which is pretty long for a game without passwords. There is a stage select though and I had the most fun with the game when I was skipping around the levels trying out their various gimmicks. Aero isn't a super appealing character either - just another face in the glut of post Sonic mascots.
As it is , I can't think of a reason to play this in 2023 which is not something I usually say about retro games. I'm usually generous towards anything I played as a kid but I'm going to have to give this a D.

I've tried playing this one a few times but just find it clunky and stiff, and kind of lacking in fun, fleshed out mechanics. The sequel seemed a bit better but not much. Some of the music is good though, the '90s tude is amusing and I do like the Zero spinoff.

I like the spinoff more too. I appreciate that Aero gives level goals rather than just getting to the end, but it does lack a certain spark. I'd give it C.

as a kid, i was reading a friend's EGM and sunsoft ran a 2 page ad hyping this game - if you were bored like me and read all the text, there was a part that said if you're reading this send your address here for a free copy, which i did...and it took a while but a genesis copy showed up at my door eventually!
i was so hyped. gamepro & other mags had been really praising it.
...i was 20-30 or so minutes in when i started thinking of might not have been worth the postage
