Long story short, I need some proof to convince someone that Play-Asia is a safe site that has no risk with inputting credit card numbers. I don't want to get into details (as it's an EXTREMELY stupid matter that I'm not too happy with), but I was wondering if there was somehow some evidence that puts PA in a favorable light.

Apart from the feedback of tons of people who've ordered from them, they are a legit business which uses Verified by Visa authentication for online purchases. It's an added layer of fraud protection by Visa where you have to enter a password before your purchase can go through. That tells me that at least they're trying to do something to protect you and your information.

Michi: Man, I wish it were that simple... don't ask. It's just a REAL stupid matter that I wish didn't have to happen, but insecurity is a rather irritating issue in this household. ahnslaught: That sounds fine. Where on the site do they talk about this matter?

I found a quick link that mentions they support this feature as well as the MasterCard version of the program: www.play-asia.com/paOS-00-3-helppayment-49-en.html You can find more information on the program at the Visa/MC site, I believe. It is a legit program, in case your friend is skeptical. I was led to the registration after I recently order the Virtua Sticks from there a couple of weeks ago, and while it's optional, creating an additional barrier from potential hazards can't be a bad thing, right?

Oh, one thing I forgot to mention, but should be obvious - if your friend is that worried, he should not use Paypal in this situation, as the funds will immediately be taken out of his bank account once he places his order, regardless of whether it's shipped, and will only carry minimal Paypal protections. More likely, his credit card will carry additional fraud/purchase protections than Paypal's standard features, and funds will only be taken once Play Asia actually ships the product.

When you show him the evidence, be sure to shout "TAKE THAT!"

You could sidestep the issue and pay through Moneybookers. That's what I did, basically. Not sure if that's any help to you, though.

If you pay with Paypal you can choose to have the funds taken from your credit card.
It's really safe to use your credit card anywhere, as long as you are actually looking at your statement every month. If your number is stolen and used without your permission it's as simple as contacting your cc company, telling them about it, and canceling your card.
Also, from what I remember, Play Asia requires you to input your security number which is located on the back of your card (that is, it's not part of your credit card number)... which means you'd have to have your card physically in front of you to use it.

Thank you all very much. I'm definitely convinced that PA is safe... and I hope this'll be enough to convince my friend. If not... well, all I can do is curse the fates and ask for more proof. But this'll do for now. I knew I could count on gamers who have dealt with this awesome site in the past to help. ;D EDIT: Oh, and... how much would it help if I showed off this site? www.paypalsucks.com/

Play-Asia also has the best customer service EVER they answer EVERY e-mail and I mean EVERY e-mail.
I e-mailed them after the Lik-sang Fiasco with concerns the basic jist of their reply was that Lik-sang was full of shit with their claims.
