Most of the Samurai Shodown ports I've played are pretty bad. Even the Saturn w/the 1 meg expansion slows down pretty often. Even SSV for the PS2/Xbox has some loading times and glitches.

SSIII PSX is the one we all called Samurai Slowdown. The two Hyper Neo Geo 64 3D games are quite good. The first one predates Soul Calibur but features complete 3D freedom of movement restricted by a stamina bar, pretty cool stuff. The second is more of a purely 2D game. Both have incredibly and atmospheric sound. And the second is where you first get Hanzo's zoom in x-ray shot of bones breaking while doing a grappling move animations (way before Romeo Must Die came out ).

Haha, upon reading all that Mode 7 stuff, I KNEW it had be from that former GameFAQs reviewers/Honestgamers group of guys. :) That "Whiny Gamerz" article on Persona is just great, hehe.
I just hope they're not trying to suggest that Hardcore Gaming 101 is a snerd site. :P

With a name like "Hardcore Gaming 101" I think that's the kind of site one would expect. I'd like to hope I don't come off as THAT retarded though. Pretentious, maybe, a bit, but that just comes with the territory. Especially when talking about Killer7. Elitist? Maybe, a bit, but I'm all cool with the "popular" games, as it were. I am totally guilty of waving the "Sega is dead!" flag but that's just because I love them so much. I'm not familiar with the MODE 7 guys unfortunately. Or...fortunately?

Now that I think of it, it does indeed reek of the work of 'Nick Evil' (especially the page full of Mode-7) who runs this site www.segabastard.com/It's just full of commentary on Modern Nintendo hate and the state of the industry. He also belives that Hardcore Gaming died with the Dreamcast. I like the site because I also hate the comparison of the SNES to jesus, and because I don't take it serriously enough to be offended.

Yeah, Sega Bastard is a funny site. :) This one from the same crowd is too: www.viser.net/~sol/index2.htmThe whole play on Universo PCEngine is especially funny (and not unlike this new parody). And Basted is indeed an RPG for retards, hehe.

I like the quick MegaCrap reference in the Devil May Cry 3 article.
All and all, I think it's pretty hilarious, with the possible exception of them implying that because I play predominantly semi-obscure Japanese games that I am an anime fan. But I understand it is all in the good name of parody

haha, I showed this to one of the CVDF guys (Heretic) and he was like "omg I need to register to hear the MP3s " ...you'd think that a song titled Dragula would be a tipoff, eh?

The first one predates Soul Calibur but features complete 3D freedom of movement restricted by a stamina bar, pretty cool stuff. If you attempt to jump too high the stamina bar will smack you back down, is that so?

okay okay, I know this thread should die, but I had to share my favorite quote out of all the reviews:
"...every single NPC in gaming history as been useless as a sack of dry sponges."
Solution: don't try to loofah with a dry NPC!
