Noticing the massive influx of new memebers I figure hey, let's get a welcome thread going in Off Topic. Australian gamer here, my tastes vary a lot from the others in the forums I think, not really a huge RPG/SHUMP/Fighter player. Much prefer FPS/TPS/RTS/Horror and a lot of the random little games that the industry pumps out. No preference between Japanese, American or European games, fun is fun. *edit...geez guys..way to make my concise description totally inadequte !!! *

I'm one of the most frequent posters here as well. I like SHMUPS, run and guns, beamups, Adventures (traditional, text-based, and point-and-click), Platformers (think Prince of Persia not collectathons), FPS's, Puzzle games (Puzzle Quest and Panel de Pon) the most. I occasionally like RPG's (if I get the time) and fighters (though I'm terrible at them). I like pretty much everything but simulations (real life sucks as it is, I don't need to play it). If you ever need any help searching for something to buy I can usually find it for you. I'll always try to help you out the best I can. Welcome everyone and keep things great.

I guess I'm the guy who kinda treads around doujin soft of the non-hentai variety. I've been getting tired of rehashed stuff, so I tend to find the most interesting games within in each genre. The more obscure and underappreciated, the better. I don't really care who makes the game as long as the concept feels refreshing ( Portal, anyone?). I'm still on my Senko no Ronde high at the moment.

I'm the guy who has a picture of Tom Servo not scaled to fit in his avatar because I'm lazy. (Right after saying that I fixed it.) I'm really into overanalyzing games and looking into bizzare details about them, but dont' know much about obscure titles. Like many others here I like old school action and don't really stay on top of the latest news. I like SNK alot.

I've been around here for almost a year, and the games I'm most attracted to are shooters, JP and US RPGs, racers, single player FPSes, puzzle games, and music games. There's games I like from every genre, but the one type of game I can't wrap my head around are RTSes. The only one I actually played and enjoyed was Homeworld, maybe because it is so much slower than other ones.
I'm a real big Mitsuru Adachi fan (manga artist), but try as I might, no one's even heard of the guy. Oh well, I have to keep on spreading the word!

Welp, I like to think of myself as a pretty nice fellow who's always willing to try out anything new, and that definitely goes for the video game world. There's a game in just about every genre that I like, even my lesser favored ones (Front Mission and Military Madness for strategy games, for example). But my favored genres? Action games (Castlevania, Contra, Gunstar Heroes), Shmups (Gradius, Axelay, Radiant Silvergun), Beat-em-ups (Double Dragon, Final Fight, Streets of Rage), One-on-one fighters (Street Fighter, Samurai Shodown, Soul Calibur), and anything that's really quirky (Rez, Jet Set Radio, Katamari Damacy). I do like Adventure and Action-Adventure games (such as Legend of Zelda, The Goonies 2, and for more pure adventure titles, Shadowgate), but unless I have a map or have been through them many times, I tend to get lost in them. But if Ace Attorney counts for this genre, then I totally adore it. Not the biggest fan of racing games for the most part, but I do really like some such titles (Outrun, F-Zero, Mario Kart). Even less of a fan of sports games of other genres, but there are definitely exceptions (Double Dribble, Blades of Steel, Tecmo Super Bowl). I'll play a good RPG if they come along, but I usually don't have the focus to spend lots of time discovering their world. Still, there are some that I like (any Mario RPG, most Final Fantasy titles, Earthbound), and yet, there are oh-so-many that I have not indulged myself in yet. I'm promising to play Skies of Arcadia one of these days, by cracky. Hmmmmm... I think I covered most of the big genres, so... yup. I really love video games. A hell of a lot, I'd say.

I already introduced myself here, but lemme cement myself in stone.
I'm 17, livin' in Staten Island. Goes to HS. I collect rare and nice sneakers, basically into everything. Oh, and I love being random.
I'm an omni gamer. I play EVERYTHING, but it varies.
I have a lot else say, but I see some of you ready to shoot me for bein' boring. so... I'm out.

Welcome everyone!
Been around for awhile, having contributed some articles for the actual site (Punch-Out!!, Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi, Cannon Spike, and others). Not exactly too hip on the current generation, as I'm way too fond of old school games (specifically arcade type titles), although my favorites are parallel to Sotenga's with the inclusion of the music genre (DDR specifically).
Don't have quite the experience here as most with obscure titles or some platforms, but I definitely love to try new things (hence reading the site to learn more about obscure titles/stuff I might have missed/shitty games like Bubsy and Captain Novolin).
About me specifically, college student who loves music and plays several instruments. I guess an interesting thing about me is I think I'm the only person or one of the few on this forum who doesn't care for anime whatsoever (The only one I've ever enjoyed was Cowboy Bebop).

I'm Rob, formerly of the OPCFG (now archived here on HG101). I'm semi-retired from running videogame websites, although I do still update my Splatterhouse site West Mansion from time to time.
I've contributed one article to the site (on Splatterhouse, big surprise) and am working on another, which is currently taking me forever due to illness and other concerns. I swear I'll have it done one of these days.
Here on the forum I lurk more than post, but if a topic is interesting enough to me (somewhat rare, but it does happen), you'll find me posting.
As far as games are concerned, I'm very much into platformers, shmups, beat-em-ups and all manner of arcade titles (and to a lesser extent, puzzle games). The newest generation of consoles hasn't interested me too much, nor has PC gaming from any era. I am not an FPS, RTS or RPG fan at all. Sports gaming for me is limited to pre 16-bit sports games. I'm also pretty anti-online gaming... not that I think it's a problem if you want to play online, but I won't ever do it.

I'm a lurker, posting little tidbits here and there. I'm kinda overwhelmed at how much everyone seems to know about games here. My first game was Frogger on an old Mac which was Ye Olde even when I played it first. But yeah, I like pretty much everything, given that it's got enough polish. I like RTS', racers, RPGs, platformers, pretty much everything 'cept Rougelikes, Championship Managers and other sports games.

Heyop. Another Icelander here. Mostly a lurker, sometimes a poster, found out about this site while browsing classicgaming (which I was saying goodbye to at the time). A on and off art student that has wasted way to much time on doing nothing with his life, I work at a construction site, seeking a new job at the moment and waiting for school to start anew.

Hey all. I like pretty much every genre of games except sports and realistic racing. I'm also into anime and manga, especially Ueda Hajime (hence the avatar), and I obsessively edit my posts and hyperlink words too much.

I'm a fairly new poster, and try not to say something unless I have something worth contributing that somebody else hasn't already said.
I'm what most hardcores would call a poseur, that is to say, even though I'm interested in those types of games, I'm absolutely terrible at them (and at most games in general), and I'm typically not willing to buy Japanese games unless I can get it on the supercheap (a-la Soukyugurentai), or it was an EXTREMELY rare occasion where the money just happened to be there (how I got Gungage). I'm not a tournament level fighting game player, in fact, I lose about 95% of the time I play against anyone else, and I've never beaten a shoot-em-up on one life or in one credit either.
I'm not really sure how to describe what sorts of games I like best, but I can give a list of a few that I've really taken a shine to over the years, and maybe others can give a diagnosis.
ThunderForce 5, Burning Rangers, Silent Bomber, Sengoku BASARA 2, KoF XI, Initial D Special Stage, Chrono Trigger, Phantasy Star 4, Thunder Fox, Low G-Man, Psychic Force, Jet Set Radio Future.
I guess I'm mostly random in what I like.
There are other personal details, but I don't know if I've really been long enough to go into all of that...
