Street Fighter's soundtrack is not as good as The King of Fighters series, but I think the Street Fighter EX series soundtrack, composed by Shinji Hosoe, is too great, my favorites being Before Moon (Sagat's), Much Stronger (Garuda's from Street Fighter EX2) and Indra Bridge of Tosaroga (Darun's from Street Fighter EX3). So, while the EX games are kind of a slower take on the original Street Fighter 2 gameplay and offer no 3D features, and lack good graphics, they are backed up by a great soundtrack. What's your opinion?

I don't really like Street Fighter's soundtracks. There aren't any tunes that really stand out to me (outside of Ken's theme, and only then because I've got about 5 remixes of it on my hard drive).

The original Street Fighter 2 (and Turbo) had a great soundtrack, the ending tracks were awesome too.

I agree with you, rey. The Street Fighter II' Turbo Hyper Fighting music on both, SNES and Arcade are one of my favorites too.

I do think SF has some rather kickass tunes to it, especially SF2. There's not a single piece of music on there that I can dorkily hum by heart! ;D And I will agree with Ventzx; while 3D SF can never match up to 2D SF, I must say that the music kicks all sorts of padded arse. The themes of Guile and Cracker Jack? Oh-too-cool. Aaaaaaaaaaand... it took a while to grow on me, but the music in SF3: Third Strike is bitchin' by my book. Sean/Oro's BGM and Urien's BGM always get me up for fighting!

SF2 series has an awesome and very classic soundtrack (I love Yoko Shimamura) SF3 series on the other hand has a stupid hip hop soundtrack, and the SFA series has jazz soundtrack, which is stupid too. jazz and hip hop do not fit to fighting games.

Speaking of hip hop and jazz, Capcom Vs. SNK 2 and Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 have pretty lame soundtrack, but that's another story.

I thought SFA2 had the best SF soundtrack. When SFA3 came out I was dissapointed the SFA2 soundtrack didn't carry over.

I actually kinda like the Street Fighter Alpha 3 soundtrack. Initially I missed the old music, but it has a nice feel to it. It's also much better than all of Capcom's "revamped" soundtracks (Capcom vs SNKs, Marvel Vs Capcom 2, Street Fighter 3, all of which I really dislike.)
I should try out some more EX music, I remember the original having some OK songs, especially Skull-o-mania's theme.
On a tangental note, how was Street Fighter EX3? I almost bought it at the Gamestop sale last week but decided not to. I figure it's bad, but how bad?

I never played it but all of my SFEX fanatics friends said the game was terrible.

SFEX3 is completely awful.
If you want to play a SFEX game, definitely get SFEX2 Plus, it's fast pace and fun.

Indeed, Shinji Hosoe is a brilliant composer. I'm absolutely in love with his Dragon Spirit soundtrack as well.
The Street Fighter Image Album is pretty cool too, what with its all-star assortment of arrangers. You gotta love Koji Hayama's (Cho Aniki composer's) take on Street Fighter. :)
