What are some games that you think aren't all that great, but the music is simply amazing?
For me, Chaos Legion definitly fits this bill. Certainly not the greatest game ever, but most of the soundtrack is just astoundingly beautiful...

VM Japan (at least the PS2 version) is a pile of crap, yet it has one of my most favorite soundtracks ever.
I should put more of that up, shouldn't I?

I didn't much like the single-player portion of Codename Eagle, but the soundtrack is good enough that I've ripped the tracks off the CD. Matter of fact...here's my favorite track off the disc. Sounds like a midi file, but it fits (more or less) with the cheesy style of the game. rapidshare.de/files/23177862/03-_The_Biting_Cold.mp3.html

Chrono Cross comes to mind. I find the gameplay boring and far too easy and the plot is ridiculously stupid, but I love the music (and the character art too). It's ones of the few OSTs I own that comes from a game that I don't thoroughly love in every way. The music still isn't as good as the Chrono Trigger soundtrack, though.

Oh, Legaia 2: Duel Saga practically defines this topic. It's not a terrible game, not great, but has a fantastic soundtrack. Good chunks of it are by Yasunori Mitsuda in his Chrono Cross mode, as well as Hitoshi Sakimoto, although his tracks are different from his usual orchestral fare. It really makes the game much more enjoyable.
Also, I'm not a huge fan of Secret of Mana or Legend of Mana but both have excellent music as well, especially the bitching boss themes from the latter.

Final Fantasy Mystic Quest The whole game was made by Square America, so its shit, but the music was made by Japanese, and its great.
Legend of Mana Not a lousy game, but miles away from being great as Seiken Densetsu 3 was. The game is mediocre, But the music? The music is GODLY, definitely the best work of Yoko Shimomura.
Diablo 1 & 2 Boring and stupid games. Diablo 2 actually made me fall asleep once. But as anyone can notice from the first "town" in Diablo 1 or 2, those sad melodies are fucking beautiful.

Silver Surfer on the NES was a heap big turd and an insult to both comic books and shmups... but the music, even if there wasn't much variety in tunes, just sounded undogly awesome for the NES. And yes, I said "unDOGly." The Adventures of Batman and Robin grows a bit monotonous (especially about ten minutes into the shmup section and it's still not over), but the music is so awesome that I took the trouble to rip every bit of it myself via the Gens emulator! Actraiser 2... definitely not as good as the original. But the music is just so orchestrally entrancing. It WAS done by the legendary Yuzo Koshiro, after all, returning for the second game to produce more great music. Erm... I wouldn't call it "mediocre" on its own, but Samurai Shodown III is probably my least favored of all the SS games. Oh, but don't get me wrong, it is still really good, and it has the best music in the entire series!

This soundtrack was composed by Jesper Kyd (Sub Terrania, Hitman series, Freedom Fighters, Red Zone, Robotech: Invasion, the man is a legend). Also Samurai Shodown III definitely has the best music of them all. It arguably is the best visually as well. It's a shame so many of the moves, tunes and backgrounds in it were dropped entirely for later games. I think only SS2 and SS64 have better soundtracks.

Battle Garegga: I can't stand this game because of its ludicrous ranking system (committing suicide to make the game more bearable, what the Christ?) and near impossible to see bullets, but I believe that this game has one of the greatest soundtracks ever.

If you have the console port there is an option to make the bullets look more like the traditional glowing orbs that is very handy.

Haunted Castle (arcade), naturally. I'll try and save you 40 quid by saying never pick up Ibara. ;D I like the system, myself, but Ibara takes it to a whole new world of difficulty and despair for the average shooter fan.

Redline w/ Sdntrk by Tommy Tallarico, it's a average FPS, but innovative because it was the first car combat / FPS hybrid game ever made.
Tommy does some serious electronica / Metal in the game.
I ripped the songs off the disc (it plays Redbook Audio, yes it's that old) and a few that are in the game as wav's I converted over as well and threw on an audio CD.
They play some of it on Electric Playground from time to time. Good Stuff.

I had a lot of fun with that game actually. Multiplayer is a blast. Nice enough Twisted Metal type game. Only problem is that the out-of-vehicle controls are horrible. That was the last game Accolade ever published actually.

Chain: The Lost Footsteps has a really nice (mostly) jazzy soundtrack. So, what's wrong with the game visual novel then? It's a hentai game, VERY linear at that, but I played (and rather liked) it because I'm into film-noir detective stories overall. If only it wouldn't come with hentai scenes, then I would've liked it A LOT more, even when being so linear. I have the soundtrack fully ripped if anyone is interested. Though, I don't know other good ways to share it, other than YouSendIt. You can download the vocal theme song of Chain for free from here: Chain (Theme Song)

You could just upload the soundtrack to like megauploads or filefront or something in a .rar file.
