DoDonpachi rocks it up here and there, particularly in the second stage. Revolution X must bu quite fun for Aerosmith fans (I wouldn't know).

F-Zero X and F-Zero GX. Yippee ki yay, motherfucker. Beat me to it. I really liked a few tunes in Castlevania: Dracula X, namely the opening stage theme.

The Thunder games (Gate and Lords of Thunder).
Outrun 2006 has some serious rocking from time to time too.

Uh... have any of you fools heard of Symphony of the Night? Dracula's Castle, Wandering Ghosts, The Tragic Prince and Festival of Servants are the most rockin'est game themes ever.
Also, Dynasty Warriors rocks out constantly.

Jets N Guns. The PC Shmup with the heavy guitars and drums mixed in with the Commodore 64 chip. I love this stuff.

I played Revolution X once for 50 cents at an arcade. I wanted my 50 cents back.
Even though I got bored of the game a few hours in, SMT: Nocturne has an awesome soundtrack.
Devil May Cry (although this one has a lot of techno, too) and DMC3. I'd say DMC2, but I don't remember the music in the game. I try to forget pretty much everything about DMC2.
Also, the Grandia II battle theme is rockin'.

I'd say most of the battle themes in Digital Devil Saga 2 would fit here, also... I second that. Battle for survival is simply amazing.

Bloody Wolf has a classic run and gun soundtrack which perfectly compliments the gameplay and is in the same class as Contra and Metal Slug. Of course I'm only refering to the Turbo/PCE version, not the lame arcade fm music. Another favorite of mine is the Quake 2 soundtrack. Being red-book audio, let's just say that I wore out my cd without playing the game much. Quake 2's music is exactly what I expected from Trent Reznor in Quake 1, where I was very dissapointed. Ambience is fine, but I still want real music in my games.

Sonic Mayhem is the name of the Q2 people, if anyone cares/doesn't know. Which is unlikely, but I'll throw it out there.

Shoji Meguro loves him some metal, so you'll find some rock in almost any recent Megami Tensei game.
Bemani games also have some hardcore composers. Des-Row notably.
