Just played some of this... WOW. I love 2D games that play around with the third dimension so this game is pretty amazing for me. It's seems to play pretty damn well from what i've played too.
Damn cool game. Definately worth a look ;D

I played a 4-stage demo about a year ago of this, but it didn't look half as good as it does now. Any multi-scrolling shooter wins me over.

Crazy. I myself just heard/discovered this game yesterday. What a coincidence that you would not only have heard about it, but played and wrote up an article on it. Very convenient for me.
I'll be reading this over, right now. ^_~

Yeah, I'd just finished downloading a torrent of it when this went up.

One of my friends introduced me to this game a couple of months ago and I really enjoyed playing it. It's actually become one of my favorite shooters lately as it's more in the vein of Gradius/R-Type etc. than your typical Cave bullet hell shmup.

The four-stage demo was the released at Summer Comiket 2007- before that, there was a downloadable one including three stages. Each one also featured a graphical upgrade and a couple very small gameplay changes (EG, in the three-stage demo, the 'halo ship' that appeared in the background during the laser-dodging section in the middle of stage 3 fired homing shots at you).

Interesting game, though I had trouble finding out for what platform it was developed for.

It was made for PC, like so many dojin games.

Awesome game, Im not too sure of what to think of the whole full powered guns at the start. It kinda makes me not as scared to die since you dont lose anything, but that can be a good thing too since it leads to more risk taking.

I think that the fully-powered weaponry from the start is a huge plus, especially considering that the game at the other end of the power-up spectrum is probably Gradius and its sequels. I think we all know that surviving in a later stage in any Gradius game without a Speed-up or anything more than a peashooter is pretty much impossible.

I like it, especially since with the Wideshot and regular Gatling guns, you can charge them up to do specific effects (Gatling fires a burst that pierces through enemies and the Wideshot creates a large shield that also does damage). And all three guns have their advantages and disadvantages versus each other, adding some balance to the weapons as well as having risk-versus-reward for the charge-ups.
I think you DO get a more powerful gun to replace the Gatling later on, but that do has its advantages and disadvantages vs. the Gatling.

I think you DO get a more powerful gun to replace the Gatling later on, but that do has its advantages and disadvantages vs. the Gatling. There's actually a charge effect for the homing lasers, too, but it's not particularly useful. You charge it by holding the 'weapon swap' key. It fires a bunch of homing lasers at a single target, which create an area-effect explosion. There's a scene in the end of the game where your ship goes into 'Overdrive Mode', wherein all your weapons get flashier and more powerful, but AFAIK there are no 'replacements' for the weapons you start with beyond that. - HC

It was made for PC, like so many dojin games. That's the thing. Unlike you I know nothing about "dojin games" (don't think it's needed to read the article either). The author assumes his audience already knows this. It would have been nice to have included a line or two saying the game was for PC. I guess I've become accustomed to see the platform being mentioned at least once somewhere, like in every other HG101 article.
