It's one of those titles I enjoy for the visuals and music, but the minute I start to try to play it seriously...well, after getting killed for the twentieth time consecutively because I can't see what's hitting me, it grows a wee bit thin.

I don't see any possible way to back this statement up. He's more well known for his work on C64 games than anything else. Attack of the Mutant Camels is probably the game that "made" him.
The last few paragraph... Crickey. I don't like to make comments like this, but it really comes off as a bit dick-ish, and just really not necessary at all.
Also, I've mentioned this before, but Tempest really needs to be represented at HG101.

I'm pretty sure that he's more well known for his C64 productions, like zzz said. Hover Bovver is one of my personal favorites.

I've been kinda curious about his C64 stuff as well. I've heard of Attack of the Mutant Llamas but only heard of a few others. They've sounded cool though.

I'm pretty sure that he's more well known for his C64 productions, like zzz said. Same here.But since the C64 wasn't very popular outside Europe,i'm sure that most people know Minter only for Tempest 2000. Cute game.Personally I'm very fond of Iridis Alpha,perhaps the most weird shoot em up I ever played.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but last I knew Tempest 2000 was published in 1994, thus making it 14 years since it came out.

First and foremost, this was written by an American. ;D I'm aware of Minter's BASIC work on the C64, but I chose T2K instead because of how ported it was (almost as much as Psychedelia and the various versions of Mutant Camels), how well received it was, and so on. I know he has a close-knit community of fans on YakYak who were fans of his back in the day and still continue to praise his BASIC work, but I feel like T2X was the more widespread game of all his stuff. I don't think anyone deserves to be mentioned along with Derek Smart, so I removed this. I really want to do this. T2X is probably my favorite shooter. Meant more than ten years, sorry. Thanks for the feedback.

I really tried to give space giraffe a fair chance but I just couldn't like it. Having read everything about what Minter said about the Frogger the article paints him in what I'd consider the right light but agreeing it probably could be worded better.

I actually found Space Giraffe to be really fun (not quite Omega Five fun, though). And that's not a baby speaking random phrases, that's a recording of a Number Station speaking numbers in Welsh: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Numbers_station

I don't know, I'm having a hard time respecting Mr. Minter after his massive rant about how Frogger is selling better than Space Giraffe. He comes off a little bit of an elitist there...and really, I think Space Giraffe itself is a bit of an acquired taste, because I didn't like it very much at all. The graphics are seriously out there, and it kind of hurts my eyes after a while...and I don't really understand how the game is played. I'm probably not the only one that feels this way, so perhaps that would explain why Space Giraffe is selling so (relatively) poorly?

I love Omega Five. Definitely one of my favorite XBLA titles.
Hahaha, not sure if that makes it better or worse.
A user from SomethingAwful had to deal with him. Heard he actually brewed a flame war there shortly after. Below is one of the hundreds of posts made about him over there (he's become some sort of a meme since).
If you have a 360, throw a CD in it and turn on the visualizer. Not exactly the definition of neon graphics, but I think it explains it better than I can.
