Ok, so I managed to find a rip of this that had a 2 CD OST entirely in mp3 and the original speech file fully working for the game. Thing is I can't get those mp3 files playing on the game for the life of me - is there some trick I am missing? I've tried sticking it in the actual game directory etc... to no avail. hope one of you can help me here

Something tells me the original game did not have digital audio tracks - all the copies I've seen of it only included the speech files, and had a MIDI music track.

Seems like you have a FM-Towns version of the game, which has CD audio tracks. Rest of the versions only has midi music.

Or he could have found a copy that included the PC version of the game with the audio tracks extracted from the FM-Towns version for listening purposes. Some torrent-distributed copies of Lucas games have the original soundtrack included as a bonus.

I oculdn't tell you weasel, the fm towns version doesnt seem to work with mp3's either...yeah I am trying them from torrents but it is mainly a hobby thing- getting this stuff working on a modern machine. Just having no luck with these cd audio tracks and there doesn't seem to be enough info online as to whether or not the pc version or the Fm twons one had a cd audio soundtrack

Urrgh, after extensive online searching it seems neither the FM Towns nor Pc-CD version came with cd quality audio- it was all midi! These mp3's must have been from some fan project of sorts if anyone knows infromation contrary to that lemme know though

The FM-Towns version did indeed came with CD-Audio soundtrack. I don't know how I can prove it to you, but it's true. Some other LucasArts adventures games for FM-Towns also came with CD-Audio soundtrack.

bizarre, I found a few people online saying quite the contrary but I will take your word for it I did try downloading the FM Towns version too but I was still getting midi. Maybe I should keep my eyes out for another version.

These mp3's must have been from some fan project of sorts if anyone knows infromation contrary to that lemme know though I got the Atlantis talkie CD version and it works fine with ScummVM. I am fuzzy on the details, but AFAIK all you had to do was copy over the voice file to atlantis folder on your hard drive and let ScummVM do the rest. Also yes the game music soundtrack is all MIDI. The mp3 stuff is a feature of ScummVM that allows you to convert the original voice file on your talkie CDs to a smaller mp3 file (assuming of course you had the original CDs).

I got the game working perfect thanks The voices worked more or less perfect from the get go but I was under the mistaken impression that there was a CD audio soundtrack instead of midi- I was wrong! turns out after much forum searching that the mp3 soundtrack was merely a fan project but cheers for responding

Have you tried downloading the MT-32 r0ms and activating that midi device in your scummvm settings? It really makes a difference.
