After I posted the interview with Ryuichi Nishizawa, I actually got an email from Matt Bozon saying he was super flattered that he had complimented the spritework of Shantae. I think he was familiar with the Monster World series in general but just hadn't played Monster World IV, at least before creating Shantae anyway.
As for articles that need updates - King of Fighters had new screenshots to cover KoF XIII but we didn't have anyone on staff to actually write about it, so that section is currently blank. We also need coverage for that Rhythm of Fighters or whatever it's called. So if anyone wants to fill in those blanks please let me know.
I didn't play enough Dragon Quest IX to create a solid review. It needs a lot of touching up, especially with the DS remakes. And DQX, despite briefly lifting IP restrictions, is still very difficult to play outside of Japan.
We don't need new screenshots for Darius (except for the new ones, which I MIGHT have lying around my hard drive somewhere), but I would really need someone who's familiar with the entire series to write those segments, rather than have them provided piecemeal by different authors.
The Darius article is one that's usually brought up to me that needs revising, because it was one of the earlier articles I wrote when I was still trying to find a voice for the site, probably back in 2004 or so. I can usually go back and rewrite these myself, but honestly my opinion on the Darius series hasn't really changed. I tried Darius Burst back when it came out, and despite the high praises I hear, I still found it incredibly mediocre. And playing the arcade version was cool for the novelty of a four player widescreen shooter in a gigantic cabinet, the underlying game still didn't seem all that impressive.
I'm also not really clear on the differenes between the PSP/iOS game and the arcade version. Are the levels/bosses different, did they redo the graphics outside of the HD update, and so forth. I only played the arcade version once and that was three years ago.

I could do an article on Dragon Quest IX. It was kind of all I played for a few months. I don't really have any way of getting pictures.
However, I keep wanting to write something, and have no idea where to start. So, I'll volunteer DQIX. If that works, great!

Definitely need someone that can grab pics. Should work okay on an emulator if you don't mind replaying it a bit.

Shouldn't be too hard. I was going to replay it anyway. Like before I volunteered. This was just perfect timing. I can run emulation to grab pics too, can I use cheats to grab pics? Like we don't have a policy against that right?

Yeah, since you've already played the game properly you can use cheats, savegames from the internet, anything that helps you get a decent variety of screenshots, as long as they're representative of the actual game.

Thanks for the heads-up on the articles needing updates.
I think the Darius article is a bit harsh overall, though I understand the earlier games aren't much to write home about. I like Gaiden and G-Darius a lot (in fact I started with G-Darius), and Burst is nice, though very short. Burst runs fine on PPSSPP, so it wouldn't be a problem grabbing screenshots. From what little I saw of Another Chronicle on YouTube, it's the old huge-screen novelty all over again, just with HD graphics, made worse for the fact you choose a route beforehand and play only three stages. The iOS version is a port of the PSP version, adapted to the touch controls. Never played it so I can't say how well it works.
The Dragon Quest remakes and Dragon Quest IX run well enough on DeSmuME, so grabbing screenshots shouldn't be a problem.
As fas as King of Fighters go, XIII is basically what XII should have been, so you could say XII is a beta of it. Sky Stage and Neo Geo Heroes are something like Shikigami no Shiro but with SNK characters, graphics are fair enough for the PSP and now the emulation on PPSSPP works properly. Never played Rythm of Fighters, but it seems very similar to Elite Beat Agents. I could help on this one, though I'm not sure.
Some other articles I feel need updates:
* Darkstalkers: Mostly talk about the XBLA/PSN Darkstalkers Resurrection and update the layout. * JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Like I said in another topic, it could be turned into a full profile article, covering all other games based on the property (the Super Famicom RPG, which has been fan-translated, the two PS2 adventures based on Vento Aureo and Phantom Blood, and the recent All-Star Battle). * Metal Slug: Talk about the canceled Metal Slug Zero MMO and the recent Metal Slug Defense, as well as update the layout. * Phoenix Wright: Add Gyakuten Kenji 2 and Dual Destinies, and maybe the Professor Layton crossover. There is a translation project for GK2 on the works, though it's still unfinished. * Power Instinct: There was one last game released for the Taito Type-X board. * SaGa: Talk about the two DS remakes of SaGa 2 and SaGa 3. Both have fan-translations available. * Shin Megami Tensei: This one should be obvious, with all the 3DS versions and the Persona 4 Arena fighters. * Splatterhouse: Mostly talk about the 360 reboot. * Tyrian: Mostly mention the version available for free on gog.com.

Isn't a HG101 Presents: SMT book already in production? I bet that the site's article on the series will be updated soon after its release.
Oh, and speaking of this: will the contents of the Castlevania book remain exclusive to it and CV Dungeon or it'll be also converted into an article for the site?

Was wondering, would anyone care for something on Robocop 2 on Amstrad's ill-fated GX4000 ? Just beat the game now and I'm planning to write up something about it anyway.

two questions....
Is it not too late to start a another horror game themed articles Halloween month for October? I know there's probably around two weeks left in September but with how HG 101 now updates articles daily or by-daily we could have more time to put some horror games into the schedule.
Was there ever a article in the works about the games of Batman? I recalled someone here saying that it would be done by the time Batman Arkyam City was released but that was ages ago. I'm assuming the article is either dead or in work in progress limbo.

(1) Yup, we've got stuff for a series of Halloween articles planned, and...
(2) There was a Batman article in progress, but the author got caught up with a bunch of other projects, including a Kickstarted book on wrestling games. That will probably come first!

Is it possible to include GIFs in the body of an article for the site? If so, what's the easiest and most practical tool/website to make one? I really want to put one of Metal Black's boss explosion on my WIP article on the game, as its awesomeness cannot be described by simple words and images. P.S.: My calculations indicate that it'll also be 2.000+ words long, so get ready for a biiiiig one, folks!

Thought I saw a gif in an article but don't remember which one if I mistaken even. Even so, you could always post the gif to show us on the article's thread. I like using Gifcam, I don't really make elaborate gifs and this is very easy to use.

If it's something as intrusive as an explosion, it probably should be confined to a link and not be put on the article page.
