forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=2481.0Does Soundless Mountain II count as a freeware game? It's a demake of SH2. Just started playing it, but there's something really charming about the graphics and the adherence (so far) to the SH2 plot.

Thanks for the awesome list, do you think you could at least provide a genre for each game? I haven't heard of some of those.

I just want to thank everyone on this thread for not mentioning Cave Story. Also, I'm surprised there's no mention of La Mulana yet: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La-MulanaIf you want a game that will break you, you probably don't have to look much further than this. And Pekka Kana 2: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pekka_Kana_2A pretty neat-o, 2D, platformer.

Play Within A Deep Forest, Knytt, and Knytt Stories in that order. TOTALLY WORTH IT, and REWARDING too.
Seriously
Go

What warning does it need other than this game is terribly boring? It talks about seizures and stuff, but I can't imagine anyone can force themselves to play that pile of shit long enough for anything graphically exciting to actually happen.

That's kind of harsh, Haz, how was he supposed to know you have to enter a code for it to freak someone out?

Just take what I say with a grain of salt, no, a bottle of vodka. Anyway, on topic, Rockstar put out the first 2 Grand Theft Auto games and Wild Metal as freeware. www.rockstargames.com/classics/

Ooh, I loved Wild Metal when it was new. It was a terribly underrated game when it was new, but I'm guessing it has aged extremely poorly.

On the one hand I think it's really neat, but on the other I feel like it exposes how barren the gameplay is in Silent Hill games. I'm sure I'll play through the whole thing and then go, "why did I do that??"
