The arcade game also becomes absurdly unfair (like, arcade Sidearms with no extra weapons unfair) as you go on. A real quarter muncher.
The NES and GB games on the other hand are totally awesome. I do intend to get Rearmed as soon as I get my 360 online again too.
It's interesting how the Amiga cover art is the same as the NES art, it depicts a style more in line with the arcade game even though Radd Spencer doesn't even look like the same person on the NES.
Also I was under the impression that the first GB game is called Bionic Commando in Japan not just because if the vague sci-fi setting of the US NES version but because there was an actual GB port of Top Secret itself being made at the time. Even if it was never released I'm almost positive of this.
I remember old previews of Bionic Commando coming to the GB in Japan/etc. back in the day and they're all shots of a GB game that with the NES game's level structure and design (or at least some form of it). Even that odd screenshot from the back of the US NES box where level one has a bridge with a shield trooper on it.

I was just cleaning out a box full of old video game magazines and saw a preview of Final Fight 2 which had Maki dressed slightly differently than she does in the final version (she wore fingerless gloves). There was also another early version of Final Fight 3 where Guy wore his outfit from the original Final Fight (rather than his outfit from Street Fighter Alpha). Lucia was also called Marion in this version and the background where you fought Callman had photographs of Guile and Morrigan (which were not in the final game).

Also, guys, this is totally the HG101 Game of 2008. I'm baffled that people are actually excited about this year's holiday season so I'm not seeing anything that could be possibly be better than an amazing remake of the best NES of all time. what was last years HG101 game then

Bioshock, I guess. 2006 was definitely Elite Beat Agents.
Keep note that these weren't actually posted anywhere, it's just my personal rankings.

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia may fudge the current balance I have for 2008, but at the moment, I think Bionic Commando: Rearmed is at the top, with Castle Crashers and No More Heroes as runner-ups.

Don't tell me you were all into Bioshock i hated that game with all my guts .. i just played it to understand the hype that surrounded that game , and i didn't anyway sorry for the off-topic *just finished the game, totally awesome finishing move done on the boss, my memory wasn't that good while completed the original Bionic commando, i couldn't remember the albatross level in it. could almost say it's the game of the decade , but then Street Fighter 4 is coming ^^ and Mega man9 and who knows what else

The Secret Tunnel music is my favorite, by far.

Man, owning this game I would honestly suck dick hell and back to get it. Luckily all I had to do was give up ten dollars. Honestly though, had they charged 80 I'd've bought it. It'd be worth it.

It's a bug. In v1.01 it seems to be bugged again, except now it has an infinite clip when upgraded.
If this super secret would be the contents of the Yashichi room, you missed mentioning the co-op only friendly fire upgrade.
Area 6 gets red barrels instead of blue ones on hard and upwards, and those do indeed do damage. The article also seems to omit the mention of special helper tiles that make swinging easier on the Easy difficulty (and in Normal as well, in Area 6). The PC version does not have more challenge rooms, just the 56+7 secret ones, they will be later available as a download. (Though you can access all 90 challenge rooms through screwing around with the game's files - challenge rooms that were cut and ones accessible only with a secret code)

Huh... not having the ability to play through Co-op Mode, I didn't know about that. All I remember getting is something for the upcoming Bionic Commando called the "BC Purple Matrix." I definitely mentioned that while talking about how much more difficult Hard is. ... heh. You've got a point. I spent more time looking to the harder difficulties that I forgot to give any focus to Easy. Kurt or I will likely alter this. NINETY?! Damn... that's pretty awesome, actually. Not having multiplayer access, I recognize there are things I may have missed. If there's anything else I'm missing, please denote it.

I bought BC:Rearmed last night and it is pretty cool I guess. I could have done without all the injokes and stuff. It's like watching an amateur horror film where all the characters are named after horror directors or something. The music is pretty awful. It's like that Castlevania Remixies album. I feel like they went a little too far in remixing the audio.
Throwing barrels was fun at first, but I can see getting bored with that quick. I don't like that the first boss required throwing barrels at it to defeat it. Just seemed like your typical gimmicky boss battle.
Other than those gripes, it's fun.

Really? I'll be diddled. Now it's WAY overpowered. ;D No kidding. "Meet the enemy" stages now equal "change to machinegun, hold fire" even on Hard. !!! Huh... not having the ability to play through Co-op Mode, I didn't know about that. This is the one. I definitely mentioned that while talking about how much more difficult Hard is. Indeed, I missed it. NINETY?! Damn... that's pretty awesome, actually. A large part of them seem to be the alternative room types, where you had to kill all enemies as well to finish the stage. There are some... scary ones, too. SWEET MERCIFUL GOD Not having multiplayer access, I recognize there are things I may have missed. If there's anything else I'm missing, please denote it. Only thing I can think of: second player in co-op is called James Gapanese, after one of Gearoid's slip of the tongue in a podcasts.

The review of the recent Bionic Commando game is now up! www.hardcoregaming101.net/bioniccommando/bioniccommando4.htmNow, the only thing I have to do is bug Sotenga about updating the BC:R sections with the patch information. I haven't DLed the patch yet, but I'm not sure how I feel about the insta-resurrection.
