Hey what's up? Thanks for the shout out on the links part of the page. May I suggest, however, that the link be to the first page of the article, instead of last? One of your readers went to the hidden P&R page and then had to navigate back through my site from the front page to read the article. Just a suggestion.
Thanks again, peace out. Valdronius

Sorry to bump this topic, but if there was something I had to do to get those pics, it was to use Game Genie, specially in Pocky & Rocky and Pocky & Rocky 2. Man, I do really suck at this genre!

The cover for the original SNES game looks like the marketers were trying to aim this game at kids.
Imagine being an eight year old girl and getting your ASS handed to you in the second level.

That's because the marketers never actually take the time to PLAY the game. They just took one look at the graphics and decided it little kids would be playing it.

Yeah for Pocky and Rocky! My favorite part of the first one is how you have the evil Western monsters taking over the "good" Eastern monsters (which technically, the Genie boss could be a part of, but oh well).
One more cameo that could go on there. In additon to her being a helper in Bubble Symphony there is another KiKi KaiKai themed level in there and the boss is Rocky inpersonation Pocky (since he's technically a tanuki, not a raccon). Hell, there's even a Darius cameo in there that's pretty funny as well.

I'm bumping this old thread to mention that back in the late eighties in Norway I played a version of the arcade game that was not titled Knight Boy, however I do not remember if the title screen had the japanese characters, so I cannot say if it was simply the japanese version. What I do remember is that we all referred to the game as Kiki Kaikai and since none of us could read japanese, that name must have been written in the Latin alphabet somewhere.
Kiki Kaikai was my first exposure to the world of yokai and it's looks, sounds and general atmosphere has had a great impact on my own imagination.

I hadn't seen the flyer before. We played it on a generic cabinet. I found this discussion online, which seem to point to the japanese version being distributed in Europe unaltered. http://instagram.com/p/yzth7HotgO I might have seen the name in one of the UK gaming magazines.
