When we first met, I knew she wasn't the prettiest gal on the block. Everyone knew that; it's the first thing someone says when they see her. She wasn't updated every day, either--but that didn't matter because under the surface she offered things that nobody else had. One was the gift of rock--the weird kind that comes in a can from overseas. She called it "MP3 of the Week". - Sinistron (2006-Apr-30) My favorite so far; the inspiration for this discussion.
- Advance Wars: Dual Strike (2005-Sept-8)
- Killer 7 (2005-Jul-14)
- Legaia (2005-Aug-27)
- Phoenix Wright (2005-Oct-17) Similar to Killer 7, this one bounces.
- Zillion (2005-Oct-17)
- Zwei (2005-Jun-9) Top-notch from Falcom; accessible and relaxing
Also, these dates I have listed are just file stamps in my download folder--sort of a rough idea of when they were posted. Did I overlook any good ones?

I'm rather fond of the ones from ESPGaluda, Mortal Kombat, Fatal Fury Wild Ambition, Killer 7, and Phoenix Wright. Question to Kurt: Ever consider archiving the past MP3s? Or isn't there enough room on the site to do so?

Metal Gear 2 - Zanzibar Breeze.
Where did you get this one, by the way? I'd like to get the rest of MG2's soundtrack.

Judging from some of his articles, he recorded it. I could very well be wrong, though.

Obviously, you guys have been around longer than I have. I can't seem to recall some of the tunes you've mentioned...

Pretty sure I got the Metal Gear 2 song off an official soundtrack. My advice is to head over to www.gamemp3s.net, and follow the tutorial to get on the Direct Connect hub. I get a lot of my music from people on there. A lot of other stuff I record myself. Anyway, I'm glad that people like the MP3 of the Week - they seem to get downloaded so sparsely, it didn't seem like anyone really cared all that much. I'm also kinda running out of stuff to put up. Any suggestions? I might put up an archive in the future. You see, I've never been sure exactly how much space I have here at Gamespy. Initially, I was told unlimited, but for awhile they were sending me "you are over the space limit" messages, and not telling me if Fileplanet stuff qualified towards that limit. Anyway, they fixed that up, so I THINK I've got a lot of space and bandwidth. At this point it's more of a matter of remembering what I've had in the past, because I keep sloppy (i.e. nonexistant) records of these things. I've still got the music around, although I've deleted a lot of it from the server.

The MP3 of the Week is awesome! I hope we've cleared any doubt in your mind. I'm also kinda running out of stuff to put up. Any suggestions? Whatever you do, make sure they're songs that I've never heard. Just do that. Oh, and the songs have to be good, too. Those are the two things that make MP3 of the Week great!

Start putting up arranged versions and unofficial remixes of video game songs.
Oh, and before I forget - try finding the D-RAM remix of "Beyond the Galaxy" from Galaxy Force 2. Or the title theme from Sub-Terrania on the Genesis.

I was going to post a link to Galbadia Hotel, but it looks like I was beaten to it.
Personally, the Breakdown credit theme is probably my favorite MP3 of the week. The amount of torture I went through just to get to hear TRUST Company was ungodly.

It's just ONE OF MY FREAKING FAVORITE GAME MUSICS TO EVER EXIST!!! ;D Cheesy as some of those character musics are, they're actually pretty damn good. I especially like John Tanaka's theme, because it sounds like a C64 SID chip.

Anyway, my three fav's are Leon (cat man), Billy (monkey boy), and Princia (hottie). Flash Man's theme is also one of my serious, you-can't-fuck-with-this, all-time favorites. Have you heard the Project X version?
