hg101.classicgaming.gamespy.com/cookingfighter/cookingfighter.htmI grabbed this earlier today, because (A) it was made by Nippon Ichi, before they hit the jackpot with Marl Kingdom and (B) fighting and cooking? Together? AWESOME. It was from this Japanese toy store in Edgewater, NJ, which has lots of overpriced games. But I've never seen this before (other than that store), so I plunked down the $30 and sucked it up. Alas, the game is pretty lousy, but it makes for good article material, just because it's so weird. I dunno if I'm gonna officially post this yet. I'm not sure how happy I am with the writing yet, so I may wait a few days. Plus I gotta finish ones on Harmful Park and Ranger X.

You should definitely post this up only due to the fact that no one has pretty much ever heard of it. Your right in the article though, cooking and fighting just sounds too awesome to be true and by the sounds of it, it is.
You mention that the anime cut scenes are great but the game itself is pretty bland, but how is the music?

I second the motion to put it up. I have NEVER heard of this game until... well, just one minute ago, reading on here that it exists! Man, what a wasted opportunity. Ridiculous over-the-top anime presentation... cooking utensils as weapons... innovative cooking system... hawt waitress chick who could give Jam Kuradoberi a run for her money........ goddammit, Nippon Ichi! How could you possibly screw it up with that formula?!

That article was pretty cool! I never can find info on pre-Marl Kingdom NI games. Or the fucking Atelier games, for that matter.

Bah! They should have made Hao the playable character in the contest! He looks so...badass!
Shame that the game sucks, though. It looks interesting enough.

Wow, that's a cool looking game, though I'm thinking it's the kind of game you'd rent to watch the cutscenes and never think about again when you're done with it.
BTW: You got any more details on the NI contest you mentioned at the end of the article?

I've heard it was a pretty terrible game. Hao makes a 10 second cameo in Disgaea though.

I can't remember what Episode, but its during one of Etna's insane rambling periods in between in Episode. I'm thinking it might be at the start of either Ep 4 or 5....
