It's true that the game is and was annoying like mad to control but I distinctly remember being able to do it. I think something about it could be related to us Gamers and our mad desire to collect everything in a game and that's something Bubsy 1 had, the levels were big and confusing but also had random fluff all over the place.
I won't deny that Sonic is the better game, because there's no denying it and I love the Genesis. But somewhere lurking deep in bubsy is a charm that I think only young gamers can pick up.

It felt like one of those stupid, artsy, "ironic" installations I had to go through during an exhibition for a media class assignment - did the Arcane Kids guys do that on purpose or what? At least the work of that Turrell guy himself actually looks ok.

I guess Tommo's finally giving that acquisition some use... although admittedly it's kind of a shame that they didn't seem to include Super Bubsy there, especially considering it was amongst the games listed with all the former Atari properties Tommo/Retroism got back in 2013 (it's on page 74)

Same goes for using SNES games and not bother trying to make the Atari Jaguar game to work properly. (And maybe the same goes for the Playstation game?)

I have Super Bubsy, I could never get it working even on my old XP rig. Much easier just to bundle in emulators.

Apologies for the bumped topic, but it seems like the article has been updated with a page on an notable fangame/indie game based on the series: www.hardcoregaming101.net/bubsy-3d-bubsy-visits-the-james-turrell-retrospective/This makes me wonder whether you'll mention the Space Funeral series next, given it gives Bubsy an... interesting makeover and change of situation. Bubsy's creator actually approved of it at one point.

Yeah, Kal wrote up a review yesterday, so once I get some pics together it'll be up soon.
