Loved No Remorse on PS1 back in the 90s, and finally got around to getting both games on PC today. Can someone please explain how in the hell you're supposed to control these damn things?

With the numeric keypad and a lot of patience?

I played them like I played FPSes back in the day, since you can use the arrow keys to move, shift to run, and alt to strafe. And, er, I forget which buttons did the "highlight objects, use/pick up stuff". Eventually you get into the rhythm. The SVGA graphics are so much nicer than the PS1 game.

Having played it on both PC and PS1 for a bit now, I gotta say it plays better overall on the latter. Absolute movement with always run on and no delay when starting to move in this mode, functional turning while moving as well as proper scrolling makes it more like you'd expect from an action game. For some reason aiming is still relative and the remote controlled droids control worse on PS1 though. The game also seems balanced to be a bit easier overall.
That's comparing to first using keyboard and then custom mapping the PC game to an XB360 pad.
