hg101.classicgaming.gamespy.com/scheme/scheme.htmThe latest Retronauts podcast mentioned this in passing, as one of the few games available on the English version of the Project EGG download site. It's notable because (A) excellent Yuzo Koshiro soundtrack and (B) it's a Metroidvania, although not a terrible great one. Still, it's really not too bad - probably worth checking out if you can fiddle with PC88 emulators.

Great coverage. BTW, the developer's name is Bothtec.

I've always liked the graphical style of these old J-PC games. The stark contrasts of black scanlines and bright colors is strangely appealing, not to mention the huge color palette for the time.

Back in my early days on the internet, where I spent my time searching Japanese MIDI sites and downloading anything I could find, "I'll Save (my) Justice" was one of the better songs I'd heard.
Maybe I'll try this out sometime, though I'm not too keen on keeping a subscription up with D4...

whoa, a friend of mine teaching in Japan *just* brought me this soundtrack back. I didn't even know it was for a game, just thought it was some weird-ass album he made.

That sounds crazy, what's the soundtrack like?

Some of it wouldn't sound out of place in Rolling Thunder or Ys. A lot of it is...kind of boring.
Re-listening: Man, there's more New Order in here than I remembered.

I asked my friend Gamemusicfreak to rip the game's soundtrack. Here's what he wrote me: I'll post both soundtracks here when I'll receive the rips from him. In the meanwhile the article could be updated to include the hero's name. If possible, credit Gamemusicfreak for that finding. Thanks.

The original late 80s release only had the Sound Board II version. The 2002 release has both, which accounts for the extra tracks.
Didn't know the hero's name, thanks!
