I'm writing one, A fanfiction that it. It's not final fantasy and it's not megaman. It's X-men. But i'm wanting to do it in my own way. I know generally fan created characters are frowned upon but the x-men universe is perfect for it. I've already got the mutants i want to use
But, I do need some backup characters. Wich is why i'm asking you guys to see what you can come up with.

Everything I'd come up with would be pretty goofy..... Like the man with the power of cheese.... or something....

Ain't nothing wrong with Fanfiction. Even though I've tried multiple times to branch out into original works, I still like to write fanfics, either for practice, to test a plot device, or even simply for fun.
As for X-Men characters, well.... I wish I could help, but I'm kind of a surrealist. I'd end up giving you a boy who finds out that his mutant powers were the result of a meeting between two spectral entities who clashed while the world was being formed, and their life force seeped into him and empowered him with the ability to melt into the earth and travel through any natural element as a form of energy. Of course, it would eventually turn out that he has a brain that thinks in five dimensions and is in a constant state of terror because he can see things no one else--not even other mutants--can, such as how the world is actually a ball sitting atop an invisible pyramid.
And I came up with that entirely on the fly.

Next should be Cthulhu man, he has tentacles and can drive a man insane with his eyes in less then 5 minutes or something......

Heh. I just finished speaking about this on another forum where, ironically, I brought up Lovecraft. Actually, I was coming up with things on or above the level of what you just read back when I was fourteen, long before discovering Lovecraft. It's one reason RPG plotlines never satisfy me, really...
Other thing is, Lovecraft likes to simply describe weird things happening, I like to use weird things as the explanation for other weird things. ^__^
Okay, how about this: A man who can turn liquid. Only it turns out, he's not a mutant either, but rather he's a combination of liquid atoms from the Caspian Sea that chose to walk on land and mingle with humanity!

Well we've got four mutants. Backstory for two of them already except for the two I created.

How about a mutant that sees and lives 5 minuets in the future. He/she is anoying, for he/she is always telling you what you are about to say, finishing your sentences for you or agreeing/dissagreing with somthing you've yet to say, but he/she is good to have around as a split seacond tactician when the heat is on, and uses that to his/her and her teammates advantage in combat.

Nothing wrong with fanfiction as long as it's done right. I've written enough fanfics myself, and my goal is to always stay true to what we've already seen as established for whatever characters I'm writing about. I try to stay away from creating new characters, though... in fact, the only time I can recall creating a lot of new characters to move the story along was in my Splatterhouse fanfic, Patient #6504.

Nah., I think i've go tmy setting any my new mutants. Usually i'd agree with if if the x-men universe wasn't so perfect for new characters
The mutants backstory is perfect as is the safehouse and the "Badguy" entity. Seeing as most of the mutants fled from their towns, I'll tell you they end up in an abandoned mansion. There is a door made of steel and bolted shut. It wont open until near the end but it will cause them trouble because it still doesn't manage to hold back the mutants powers behind it.

Oddly, most of the stuff I write fanfiction for is stuff I usually feel is lacking or has unrealized potential. So when I do fanfics, I'm typically trying to "add something" to the established universe, which often means bending the restraints a bit (or a lot), though essentially trying to be true to the show I'm writing for even as I expand on it.
That and I just rather love to be, ummm, surreal, as you've seen above. The typical good guys, bad guys, occasional angst, and character development isn't enough for me if there isn't a vitriolistic ethereal dragon from the Dimension of Mirrors somewhere in there.

Still lacking a decent backstory for the main character. Everything i think of is too cliched

Tell us what you can about this main character. Maybe we can infuse some fresh ideas on him.

The main character is somewhat similair to both gambit and cyclops in that he has a type of energy rooted in his body. When the "Field" Is "Up" It appears as a small circular shape somewhat like eddie has in guilty gear at his feet. When the main characters hands are moved near the energy and it conencts with his mind he can lift and warp it. At first he can simply bring it up into ciruclar form (Where it will still be connected to the field) and create small shields capable of deflecting bullets. Other things he will be capable of doing is creating large spikes that attack outward (Diagnoally or to wherever) As long as it stays connected to the field.
Basically when the field is "Up" as long as his "Attacks" stay connected (But they do auto disconnect after a certain range making him incabable of fighting ranged) If he channels too much however he automatically powers down and it makes him physically weak and sick.
His secondary power is that while the field is up he can absorb and carry other mutants energy as long as he quickly redirects it within the ten seconds that it connects Making it possible for him to juggle attacks from other mutants (Ex. It's possible fo rhim to "Catch" one of gambits cards and throw it at someone else)
While his enery field is down He has only one capability (During cooldown where the field cannot be reactivated for three hours if he powers down of his own will it has no cooldown) His eyes continuasly glow with a pink "Burn" Making it impossible for him to fit in. He can channel small amoutns of the energy out of his body, Even making claws for a short while.

I don't read X-men so I have no idea on the complete mutant list but what about a mutant that forces massives and sudden raises in tempurature. Thus this mutant must exist in a suit of some sort of alloy or fabric preventing this from occuring. Obviously this is why this mutant was shunned.
Presumably the mutant him/herself doesn't feel the sudden heat burst created.
