Been done, each issue addressed in the Animal Crossing thing. What about Half Life 2? Personally I like it, but it would be interresting if someone could actually find its entirely different atmosphere somehow bad.

I, too like the change of atmosphere but they didn't capitalize on it nearly enough. I wanted to explore it in more detail, but the game wouldn't allow me that.

I preferred the linearity of Half Life 2. I'd rather have a set path than wander around aimlessly like Oblivion.
I'm not a fan of The Sims, but it definitely has some worth. I've watched people play it, and they're usually amused at the situations and dramas they've created for themselves. So it's kinda fun, in that respect.

Has Morrowind been addressed? I'm too lazy to look through this thread.

A Fallout-like interaction system would've been cool, but it'd also destroy the whole silent part of Gordon.

when I throw a tv in someone's head, I'd expect some more reaction than "Stop being a jerk!".

Oh, like you could actually kill someone and everyone would turn against you? That's Fallout for ya!

It would end horribly, Everyone would die except for you. HL2 isn't fallout, if you shoot a civilian every other civilian near you isn't going to pull out an SMG from nowhere. It would break the game, especially in firefights. I cant tell you how many times i've shot people on accident.

Should you really be comparing an FPS to an RPG? ^__^ Most PC RPGs have been "free-roaming" since the 1970s, though that doesn't mean that you're wandering aimlessly--just that you have to have a more active commitment to the plot and think logically to advance it.

I nominate Fable for the greatest disappointment award.
