I was just wondering: What's the preferred way of playing games on the bluemsx? With the horizontal stretch, or without?

Me? Without the horizontal (and vertical) stretch. I like my pixels sharp and unstretched.

The reason why I asked, is because in the help section, it mentions that if you have the checkbox for horizontal stretch checked, the graphic part of the emulation will be the way it is on a real MSX.
I don't know if that's true or not, because a real MSX is extremely hard to come by.

Personally, I'd just say go with whatever you're comfortable with.

Is there any specific reason why you'd want games to look like they were played on an actual MSX system? If you really want to do that, you may want to consider also using one of the monitor emulation modes in BlueMSX to make the picture quality blurry and noisy, like when playing on an old monitor or TV.

As long as your monitor is 4:3 than yes enable stretching. That's how things would have looked on a real msx. It also has options to simulate Monitor/Svideo/Composite tv modes etc too so play around with those and chose whatever you like best.
