Somewhere along the coast of the Black Sea there is a place called Tomis Harbour in Constanta, Romania. Apparently the place is cold. Like really cold. So cold, in fact, that the temperature sometimes drops so low that fairly large areas of the Black Sea itself off of the coast will freeze. The resulting sheets of ice can even support a person’s weight in some areas. Of course, this is really no big deal - after all, I’m sure we’ve all seen plenty of frozen lakes and ponds (though maybe not frozen seas) - but in Tomis Harbour it sometimes gets so extremely cold that the waves will freeze, partially or completely, while in motion. The end result of all this is an amazing looking scene that might best be described as looking like a sea of snow or foam, with bright white frothy waves crashing and flowing and even freezing in place. Now I know what you’re thinking: "Less words; more pics!" So I’ll get right to it. I give you: The frozen Black Sea of Tomis Harbour, Constanta, Romania.

Umm I dunno about these... I think I might have to look at a youtube video to believe it. Why are there seagulls (or whatever they are) roaming frozen waters? It's not like the can catch any fish there.
Unless some parts are frozen and others aren't?

Wow, really interesting.
Where do you get your ideas for all those pictures?

I first got the idea for the series of threads after I found the Thin Buildings In Japan images completely on accident. The rest were found by trail and error with various Google keywords. There were a TON of things that never got posted, but most of them weren't that good.
