I stuck in a screencap of them (in-game) at the beginning so I figured that was enough. Oh, okay. I missed the text under the pic so I figured it was Path of Radiance

I edited my post. I thought it would be obvious I had hidden text because of the quote. I had it hidden for a reason... I for one, appreciated it (while I could). Anyway, this article--this so-called Fire Emblem article--is actually liquid Jesus in disguise. Every once in a while... Actually, to be honest, it was just this one time: I was suddenly reminded why this website rocks hard. This is the best addition in a while. The recent mp3 of the week kinda sucks, though. I suppose there's another thread for that...

Ethrin here, I just registered for the forums.
I'm glad you're enjoying the Fire Emblem article. This is the first time I've ever written anything for HG101. Fire Emblem is a massive series. There's a lot of reoccuring "Fire Emblemisms" that I and many others have grown to love. I know I didn't cover each and every one, but if I did that, the article would have tripled in length. Maybe even quintupled...Who's to say?
Seeing how positive the response has been, I'll probably do some more. I have some ideas as to what I plan to do next.
Big thanks to Discoalucard for helping me edit that monster too.

Nice article. I've been curious about the earlier FE games since playing the three offical english FE games (and the cameos in SSBM), but was always too lazy to finding and playing the emulated versions.

Sac: The 3 Super Famicom FE games deserve to be localized, no doubt about it. Translating them for Virtual Console seems highly unlikely. Simply reskinning the existing GBA games would be a great disservice unless Nintendo kept each games' little gameplay quirks in tact. Monsho needs some of its bizzare units(notably Chanie the shapeshifter) plus I liked the way Mamkutes in Monsho worked better than in Sacred Stones. They stayed in Dragon form for X turns, X being the Mamkute's level. Seisen might be more trouble than its worth since it has a different chapter structure, the whole system of the 1st generation passing traits/items/etc onto the 2nd generation will take a lot of work. Add the capture feature to the GBA games and you should pretty much have Thracia 776.
sh3llsh0ck: Aww thank you! :3

This is a very fine and comprehensive article that has me interested in a relatively obscure series. Since Front Mission, I'm taking a liking to more strategy games, and I'd like to give the original a try! ... DAMB! It seems I lack an English translation of the first game. Not sure if this is cool, but... does anyone happen to have such an item lying around?

Book one of FE3 is a complete visual remake of FE. That was translated, more or less, and should be easy to find.

All I can find are dead or "in progress" translations of FE games.

I worked on a FE Gaiden translation for a bit, but I got frustrated when the script I was given had loads of problems. Like the middle 1/3 of the text was duplicated twice but the ending was missing or somesuch nonsense.
I'll consider giving it another go if whatever group I'm working with has their act together.

What the heck! Fire Emblem: Akatsuki no Megami (Goddess of the Dawn) is about to come out in japan already! Febuary 22, man I was expecting this game to come out in December 07. American release soon after. Offical Site: www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/rfej/index.html

I just read this article, and, inaccuracy detected:
The Fire Emblem OAV lasted more than two episodes. More like thirty or so. There's some fansub group that handled this series... might try looking it up.
Thing is, ADV only *released* two episodes on VHS. I guess that tape didn't sell well enough.

There's a ton of Fire Emblem manga out there. Maki Hakoda's Fire Emblem mangas(one of my favorite as far as art quality goes.) Maki's was 12 volumes but at like, what, 5 chapters a volume, it went for 30+ "episodes" for sure.
