Girls everywhere the eyes can see, yet a real human girl will never step foot into those rooms. Oh, the irony.
I hope to God these freaks are somehow supporting themselves and living on their own because I think I'd be more ticked at the parents for allowing their children to live like that.
The game stuff is fine, though. I have lots of shelves loaded with games, but at least they're organized in a tasteful way rather than complete sensory overload. I got some figures scattered around too, but at least they're, you know, Mario and RPG characters and crap, not freakin' lolitas in bikinis.

I think I have literally uh, 3 boxed figures and an M.Bison statue (no suprise there). The rest is games, cds and books, I think I am safe at the moment. (though apparently even all the junk I do have is "weird" in some folks eyes! urgh)

Well no, supposedly the most hikkekomori otaku freakjobs in Japan are really still living tightly under wraps with their parents. Everyone in those families just stay real quiet about it fearing a social backlash about the parents doing a really shitty job raising those kids. Funny thing about the women part, I once read there's a public program in Japan to rehabilitate these guys involving a nanny/big sister of sorts that talks them out into the real world to find a job and get their act together. Oku Hiroya's Meteru No Kimochi sort of dealt with that.

Are these folks living in apartments, are they just clueless, or do they not care about their memorabilia? Putting everything in plain sunlight will result in a faded mess a decade down the line. It's amazing how people would rather show off than preserve their stuff. Look at the video game collection pictures to see how people take care of their games by keeping away the UV.

It's pointless to own something if you don't enjoy it. I mean, I try to keep in my games and other stuff in good shape, but I'm not going to lock them away in a safety box. Besides, it seems like some of these pictures had stuff laid out to show off (to I guess whoever wouldn't find them totally sad and pathetic). And I think the main reason the stuff is out in the open all over the place is so they always have jerking off material on hand. :P I wouldn't touch anything in those rooms.

Well, don't you have a room out of sunlight? A basement, a room without windows, a closet? I keep my games all in cabinets or boxes away from the light. I still have ready access but it doesn't look as "cool" as in plain view. Anyway, from the last comment, it sounds like you've had contact with one of these rooms before... my condolences.

I'm a real woman and my room is like a third of the way to looking like this. At least mine is organized. I can't stand clutter.
I have a body pillow but it just has a plain red velvet cover. I have a shirt with the kanji for moe on it.
I proudly admit all this because I don't give a fuck how people view me. I'm happy with who I am and I'm out there doing stuff like getting a college education. I'm clean and healthy. The fact my room has figures and manga and games in it shouldn't matter as long as I'm nice.
But oh well, stereotypes.

No, I haven't, it's just obvious. o_O Most of those rooms don't have a square inch not catering to their sexual fetishes.
I think you're being a bit OCD about the whole sunlight thing. As long as your stuff isn't directly facing a window, it's fine. It's not going to get faded by ambient light. I haven't had anything get faded since I was a little kid with posters that were up on my walls for several years straight.

I dunno. Some fans have rooms full of mecha. No fetishes there that I can see (unless there's such a thing...). That's why I can't say that for certain.
Anyway, I'd had posters I haven't cared for up over a decade on the walls perpendicular to the windows. All of them have noticeable fading. It's the same thing any comic fan or museum would say. Yeah, it may be OCD but it's a hassle-free way to take care of games. For fans of this caliber, I expect nothing less so I'm always disappointed.

There was a time when I'd rather look at Optimus than a naked woman.
That has passed.
I still love me some Prime.

To paraphrase the leader of the Autobots:

I wasn't talking about the mecha guy, he's pretty badass, if not a bit insane. :P I'm not into mecha myself, but it's a legitimate, respectable interest, as opposed to a room filled with nothing but nearly naked anime girls (although it isn't limited to anime; I'd be just as creeped out by a guy with a room completely covered in Playboy pictures or whatever).

Geez, double standards. Naked unrealistic robots = awesome. Naked unrealistic underage girls = creepy. It'd be pretty hilarious (yet highly improbable) if one of those rooms belonged to a girl though.

Yeah, but one is commonly associated with actual real life criminals, whereas the other is not.
Unless there's some dude in Japan that goes around raping robots that I don't know about.
