Looks promising. Liked the rearranged music, but not so much the sound effects. Keep up the good work. (:

Holy crap, why am I just learning about this! This is a great idea. Once the core game is done, it'd be badass to add a second quest. 32 by 32 screens! Maybe also include the MSX maps, in addition to the NES ones? Either way, this is really awesome! Also not a huge fan of the jump sound, but the graphics looks gorgeously hi-res, and the music rearrangement is AWESOME. Can't wait to play it! EDIT: I do have to ask, though... why does the ladder-climbing animation use Lyll facing forward, instead of facing backward? Looks like she's crab-walking up the ladder. (: -Tom

Well, to answer some of these questions (and comments): MSX2 map?Yes! Even though MW mixed the two, I'm actually constructing it in-game to the MSX2 map, not the NES one. Music and sound fx?Sorry about the music, but that is a temporary place-in while the real arrangement is being made. That is actually Eric E. Hache's arrangement. As for the sound effects, I used place-ins borrowed from FlyFF Both are going to be replaced before the demo is released. What's with the weird animation on the ladder?MW hasn't made a sprite animation for the ladder yet, so I had to make do. AWESOME!!!!Why thank you! I just can't wait to get more done. Better yet, I can't wait to release it!

BTW, here's a potential game logo. What you guys think?

Don't like the logo at all, actually. The "Legacy of the Wizard" part looks like neon lights in front of a stage show, which makes me think more of a futuristic game... and the "Remix" part looks like something out of "Rambo." Neither seem at all appropriate for a medieval setting with magic and dragons and such. If you look at the original Falcom logo, it's full of fancy scripts and an unfurled scroll and such... and even the American logo looks frilly and medieval. That's definitely more what this logo needs, I think - a bit of medieval flair.
I like the look and sound of everything else you posted, though. (: Maybe once it's out, you can also work on reproducing the NES map, and including that as a togglable option, or unlockable second quest or something. Or allow for player-made maps, even! I can see this game really becoming an internet sensation if you add the ability to create and distribute your own maps.
But that would be something for later. For now... I just can't wait to play it! (:

How about this one?

Wow. That's definitely a marked improvement! Might be a bit too far in the OTHER direction, though - extremely appropriate, but kind of hard to read! I'd suggest something a bit simpler, but still along the same lines.

Like a different font?

Yeah, if you can find one. Or maybe try some handwritten calligraphy or something, and scan it in... or use a simple font, and edit it in Photoshop to add flairs or something, so it doesn't just look like a stock font.
The logo isn't horribly important, but a good logo can go a long way toward presenting a good first impression, so you should probably make it look dynamic and unique - not just vary the font, but create your OWN font, or your own style, or include a snazzy image with a simple font or something.

How's this?

Best so far, definitely. Still a little hard to read, but on the right track, for sure.
Still, I can't help but feel like something's missing. I guess it's a matter of comparison - since this is a remake of Legacy of the Wizard, it feels like you should stick more closely to the original game's logo, with the dragon, and the unfurled scroll, and the brick wall... and remake IT, too! I think that's what's been bugging me about these logos all this time - they're not bad, but they're overshadowed by the original game's title screen. And since the whole purpose of this remix is to provide an enhanced version of the original game, it just feels like the title screen should ALSO reflect that, you know?
Anyone else care to weigh in? I hate to be the only one making any comments here. Makes me seem uber-anal, especially when it's about the logo to a fan project!

I guess there's a reason Margin Walker is the graphics guy. Guess I should stick to programming

Here it is! The moment you've all been waiting for! This is the first ever release of Legacy of the Wizard - Remix!!!!! It's nowhere near complete, but it gives you guys a chance to see the new graphics in action. www.mediafire.com/?mzwotgyzyymKnown bugs: Those ladders are a big problem. <_< So are the blocks...>_< Sometimes you can catch yourself on the sides of walls. >_> --------------------- Other than that, any and all feedback is appreciated!

The graphics look great in action, but the physics engine DEFINITELY needs work. The timing seems really off - shots seem sluggish, the delay when you fall down and hit the ground is excessively long, and the physics around the edges of blocks are in GREAT need of improvement, as you stated. The whole game definitely feels like it's in need of some serious tweaking.
Still, very cool to see it come this far. The graphics are simply spectacular! The one thing this really needs, though, is an easy access full-screen mode. I hate playing games windowed - Alt-Enter is the universal key combo to toggle between windowed and full-screen, and I think adding support for that would be really awesome.
Can't wait to see where this project goes from here!

Haven't been able to test it, but the screens look absolutely lovely I love the high-res pixel art.
