To just echo the general theme of Ganelons post - it does irk me when people assume that liking a Jp-only game=elitist snobbery. To me, a good game is a good game, and it's really not my fault if you can't walk into Gamestop and pick it up. I would love it if all these wonderful games were available for everyone, but if they're not and I like them I'm not going to stop talking about them.

Wow lol... it's like me with one of the SRPGs I like a lot on the Mega CD, Heroic Legend of Arslan. It's based off an anime, and is pretty solidly programmed, but never got an English release. I spent a lot of time going through it, and had to sit down over night to translate the menus for myself (playing with the menus on Paint and the game on an emulator... damn lockouts on the Sega CD ><)... but I don't consider those who haven't played it not to be elite. I consider that they: 1. Just don't know it exists 2. Aren't a fan of the series, and thus never found out it exists in fangirl adoration and "Must have it all!" obsession Actually I've been tempted to write up something on that game. It's rather fun

In my case, it has nothing to do with "you can't walk into Gamestop lol", it's the whole idea of "This is my reward for knowing Japanese, and how dare the English arm of some company ruin that for me! Those unwashed brutes want to play it, they can teach themselves Japanese too!" THAT'S what gets to me.

Well, if it's a game with a bodged translation (see: Legend of Heroes 3-5) then claims like "It's so much better in Japanese!" are entirely justified, because they are true.
Elitist fanboys will react that way to the "unwashed masses" in any case, and the "learn Japanese, dumbass" is just one excuse in their armoury. To get back on topic, the only Sora no Kiseki fans I've ever come across have a real desire to see these games in English, because they want people to enjoy them.

Kitsune: Agreed, those kinds of people are very annoying. That's what I dealt with on the Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne board for a long time, and I just couldn't wrap my head around why anyone would object to that game coming out in English. As Kimimi said, though, most Sora no Kiseki fans who actually post on message boards and such (and don't just throw videos on YouTube or what-not) are not at all like that.
Ryochan: There's a Heroic Legend of Arslan game?! I *love* that anime!! If you do write an article, I will be very, very happy. (:

Do you by any chance happen to know if those where released in Korea?

The Sora no Kiseki games? From what I can gather through Falcoms product pages FC and SC were released as download-only games through a Korean company, with SC also getting a limited edition release that came with a replica of Joshuas harmonica (the game itself was still a download, however). No idea about The Third getting a Korean release, sorry.

Thanks for the info. I actually found the site, and it even has all three parts by now. The system is stupid, though. It's a service like Steam, Gametap and the like, only you buy hours of gameplay time, rather than games. What a terrible form of release for such cool games.
... oh, and the site also has foreigner-block. I guess I would have to fight my way through the Japanese version, after all.

Thanks for the info! That's a ridiculous idea though, especially for such long games - how much do you have to pay per hour? I guess a cracked Korean version is out of the question?

It amounts to about 20$ for 100 hours, which isn't that expensive, but I couldn't bear not to have the games on my computer to come back later.
The third part it seems is actually part of a free play program, but no Korean ID, no play at all.
Finding recent games cracked in korean is a bitch (at least to me), and I read on some site that it's supposed to stream game content while playing. If that's true, then it can't be helped.
If one could actually get access to the site, it might be worth checking out if there's some kind of install, with a lot of luch, maybe the Japanese version could even be overwritten with the Korean text files, but there's no way of knowing at the moment.
The most frustrating fact is that part 1-5 were released on CD, only for the best games they decided to go that route.

I have been DESPERATELY trying to nab the 3 part box set for this (the second set with all 3 parts not the first box set). Sadly every site I find is out of stock (even Falcom itself it seems).

Unless you *really* need that mini material collection (assuming you're talking about the PSP versions) there's no reason not to just buy them individually. AFAIK there's no benefit to buying the PC three pack either, aside from the slipcase.

I'm looking for the second box (all 3 game parts) not the first with parts 1&2 and the mini material collection. For some reason the collector in me REALLY wants the box set lol.

Is it just me or is the link at the beginning of this topic links back to the main page?
