onoff: I always seem to see "klaxon" used when people are talking more military. Anyway, it'll be good for people to go look up what it means! lol.
And dangit you guys, I suck at these sorts of games, don't make me wanna play em!

This article made me check out XEXEX and that thing is like a precursor to bullet-hells. It also made me realise just how bad I've become at them.

Just for the record, the game is Airforce Delta Strike, not Airforce Strike Delta. Or Airforce Delta: Blue Wing Knights in Japan. Or Deadly Skies 3 in Europe.

There's also an AirForce Delta for GBA. I just noticed.

I've never posted in one these threads before, but I did notice a typo on this page: hg101.kontek.net/konamishooters/konamishooters7.htmOther Konami Games with Shooting Segments Second paragraph, it says "is essentially a huge letter love to Konami" when it should be "love letter".

Sky Jaguar is wrongly listed as released in 1981. It's 1984.
Also, if I remember correctly, Pippols has power ups. But I haven't played it since it came out, so I'll give it a go and let you know.
EDIT: Ok, I played it. Not much for power ups, but there are:
-A clock that freezes enemies and let's you "eat" them. -A Christian cross that eliminates everything on the screen. -A pair of boots that increase speed.
There's also Moai stages, of which I have a screenshot if you want it. It fits the whole Konami theme.
EDIT 2: Regarding the Axelay bit, I thought that R-Type 3 was considered the best shooter on Super Famicom. Tastes vary, of course, but I think most people think Axelay's "gameplay" doesn't hold up as well as R-Type's over the years. Axelay was more worried about being an effective technical demo than being a fun shoot'em-up.

The PSP isn't region-protected, is it?

Nope, not for games. They're region free.
For movies it is, however. But that isn't a big deal.

If this article didn't get more people to play XEXEX and Axelay, I would be sad. A lot of my local friends have never heard of these two games.

I'd heard of both, but never strived to play them.
Considering I saw Axelay super low-price, I'm totally gonna pick it up.

I guess it wasn't made by Konami, but should there be a mention of the Gyruss remake hidden in Contra Legacy of War?
