I was kind of hoping it would so I wouldn't have to have woken up for work just now.

Dammit, the world better not end on the 21st, because in my house, we celebrate the Winter Solstice instead of Christmas, so that's when we open our presents. I don't think the world's gonna end then because Tom Cruise has a new movie opening on that day and he's not gonna let that apocalypse shit fly. He'll just get Scientologist lawyers to make it go away, like all of those guys he fucked on the downlow. ZING! I sometimes wish Scientologist lawyers could make him go away.

There are idiots in this world who actually believe that when they die they will go to another dimension where they will party with Jesus' ghost (or have sex with 72 young girls) for the rest of eternity, so people actually believing this 12/21 nonsense is not that farfetched. Somehow I'm not surprised you would see it that way.

Man, the end of the world is boring. I think you have to be a Mayan. Also, to get a little morbid, today _is_ going to be the 'end of the world' for thousands of people. And tomorrow will be for thousands more. So It Goes.

Oh look
The people who never invented the wheel didn't know when the world was going to spontaneously cease existing

I read this gem on Facebook last night. I watches something on the Mayens yesterday and it was stated that they were all dead before any of them were able to even say what the significants of 12-21-12 even was. It doesn't necessarily mean the end of the world. That's just the conclusion that people have jumped to. In the bible it even says nobody knows the day or time of the end of the world. If people don't want to go by the bible and go through current events, they would have to noticed that death rates have gone down. Also, people thinking its the end of the world is driving them crazy enough to do ridiculous things and that's just a bad case of mental illness. If it is the end of the world that sucks and me not falling for it makes me an ass. On a brighter note if all goes well, have a great Christmas! There are just so many things about this...

I am not a religious person, but I'm getting tired of seeing anti-Muslim sentiment online. It's disgusting.

You believe what you want, I'll believe what I want, and we won't get pissed off at each other for not believing exactly the same thing someone else says we should. I just don't understand why people go nuts over that sort of thing. Hell, one time, I went to get my hair cut, and the barber actually gave me a really long speech about his life as a pastor while he was trimming. Much as I really didn't agree with some of the things he was saying, I just heard him out and even presented some alternative views (as politely as I could manage). It turned into a really fascinating conversation.

Never argue with the man holding a razor to your throat, or a scissors to your head. That's what I believe.

For most people, it's just easier to say "Fuck you, you're stupid, and I can't wait for you and your whole generation of old people to die off.", and then feel good about themselves for putting the old person in their place.

I just don't understand why people go nuts over that sort of thing. Each of the Abrahamic faiths are fundamentally intolerant of non-believers, especially those of other faiths. Granted, most self-identified Muslims and Christians are more tolerant than they're given credit for (since most of them don't really take their holy books that seriously to begin with or they cherry-pick the good parts), but when someone's belief system of choice instructs them to "kill disbelievers" it clashes with the whole idea of being tolerant to other beliefs.

It's not that I'm against religion in general. I think being completely anti-religious is counter-productive and over-simplifies many of the complex problems that society faces, but I also find it laughable that some people treat their personal God as some sort of cosmic Santa Claus who will reward them when they die and punish all the "bad people" they don't like. Even if there's an afterlife that punishes or reward people based on the actions they conducted in this life, there's no real guarantee that God will favor you.
