All console exclusive games are easy by default. They are meant to be finished, and sooner rather than later. Even "difficult" recent console games like Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, etc. include easier modes and ways to grind (spend time) for power-ups (if you are not good enough in the first place). Ninja gaiden has only Normal, Hard, and Hard as shit.

I don't know much about Strider, as I'm not big on platformers, but... why is it BAD for people to want it to stay a platformer and NOT have RPG-elements? It's like trying to say all RPGs should suddenly have 1-hit kills, no levels, etc. One of the joys of video games, to me, is that we can all have something we like; I enjoy RPGs, for example, but my Brother loves games like Metal Gear Solid where it's more action/sneak oriented. Anyway, I should someday try Strider, even though I'd probably die 20,000 times!

I sort of agree. I'd like a 3-D game, with a mix of genres in the gameplay, telling a really epic story-line. A completely new story too, not an actual sequel to the other games. Noooo! This is exactly what happened to NInja Gaiden: Tits n' Blades on the Xbox We must leave young Strider as he was...its....its better he doesn't see this tragic future

It is also the only time I can recall an Easy Mode that actively ridicules you for playing the Easy Mode.

The big suggestion here has been to give it more of an interconnected open world instead of a level-by-level structure, a la the Metroid and post-SotN Castlevania games. Which would be very much in keeping with the NES version of Strider, which some (such as myself) consider the best in the series (despite the absolutely terrible hit detection). -Tom

Say, wasn't the NES Strider in development before the arcade version? I could have sworn I read or saw that somewhere. And actually, it wasn't even released in Japan was it... Weird game.

You don't really get that exciting feeling of assaulting an empire single-handed if you can wander around from start to final boss at will though. I'd like a route system with different stages unlocking depending on how well you do during the game.

eh... the taito stage select thing works fine for darius, but if it's an action game i'd like it to be a bit more flexible than a literal choice a or b. like, if you choose to kill some dude, or defeat him fast enough then you go to a different area instead of the usual route. or, say if you lose a life at a certain section or fail to escape fast enough, instead of just reappearing at the previous screen or something you'd have to start at a different level. things like that would make it pretty cool i think.
