I've wanted to start covering doujin games at some point, so here's a start!: www.hardcoregaming101.net/duoprincess/duoprincess.htmThis is a action/beat-em-up using the characters from the Square PSOne action/RPG Threads of Fate/Dewprism. I really liked Mint and Maya, and seeing them resurrected (if unofficially) is pretty cool, even though the game itself is only so-so. The company who made this, EasyGameStation, has put out some other decent games, like Dash de Lei Lei (featuring Lei Lei/Hsien Ko from Darkstalkers), Elepaper Action (action game starring the Read or Die TV characters), Gunners Hearts (which steals characters from Skygunner) and Chantelise (mentioned in the other thread.) They seem to have become one of the more prominent doujin developers as of late. Most of their games have demos on their website, which is here: egs.cug.net/

Wow.. those are really high production values for a doujin game.
I guess Square didn't really care enough about Dew Prism to jump on them like they jumped on those two fan-made Chrono Trigger remakes.

This is a primary difference between American and Japanese corporations - America is a pretty litigious society and companies will fiercely defend their copyrights no matter what. On the other hand, most Japanese companies realize that it's not only harmless since it doesn't cut into their revenue, but also increases exposure of their properties, so it amounts to free advertising. Hence why the doujin market exists, where something similar would get destroyed here. Many of the characters reused in doujin games come from a variety of (relatively) small publishers like Leaf, creators of To Heart and maybe Air and Kanon.
This isn't 100% even in Japan though. Nintendo is notorious for disalllowing things like this. So is Disney (being an American company, this makes sense), so while Final Fantasy doujin stuff is prolific, you will never see anything for Kingdom Hearts.
But yeah. Some doujin games have very high production values. The recent Big Bang Beat is almost as well put together as a modern SNK fighter.

I've never heard of this game. Threads of Fate was an awesome game though.

I need to speed up my work on Suguri -_-;
Accelerate would be a more appropriate term.
Also in 2-player mode, only one of you can use the new spell found on the ground.

But yeah. Some doujin games have very high production values. The recent Big Bang Beat is almost as well put together as a modern SNK fighter. Is it based on AliceSoft's hentai SRPG game, Big Bang Age, but without the hentai? Seems MUCH more interesting since it's a fighter game, though Big Bang Age has a better opening movie.

I remember being a little disappointed with Duo Princess, but that might have just been because I was obsessed with the original Dewprism.

Yes. A more commercial example of this would be Melty Blood which was based off the original hentai visual novel from TYPE-MOON's Tsukihime, since some of the characters had supernatural powers that could've been implemented in a fighting game. Although Melty Blood is supposed to be a spinoff series since some characters are still alive.

Jeez, why isn't there a Threads of Fate article? That was a great game.
EDIT: Duo Princess sounds similar to Dewprism. That's a pun of some sort, right? It'd be lost on the people that're going to read the article, though, as most of us know the game as Threads of Fate.

Not really, since the Japanese pronunciation extends the last sound in "Dew," while Easy Game Station's title has an "o" sound right after it.
Maybe if the Japanese nicknamed it "DuPuri" it'd be a pun.

EGS's stuff is amazing. If you need my Chantelise save or want me to take some screencaps/write up the plot, I can do that. The P-star article feels like more than I can tackle right now. !_!

Anyone know how to save your game?

You can't. You have to beat the whole game in one sitting. It's not that long though.
