You mean Nippon Ichi?
It's not a real N1 title, it's from another company called Idea Factory, NIS just localized it for America. It's also closer to Dragon Force than the other games.
It's also kind of bad.

Since Soul Cradle came out, I've been working on revamping this article a bit. I've combed out some errors and added some extra character profiles. And also, the Soul Cradle review: hg101.classicgaming.gamespy.com/nipponichi/nipponichi6.htmI still want to add some extra character artwork at the bottom, like with the other games. I still need to fix up some of the earlier stuff too, primarily Makai Kingdom. I also want to add stuff about the anime/manga. But I haven't seen the anime and I heard it was kinda bad, so...

You should get the Disgaea manga on the sole fact that Broccoli Books published it over here. They put a lot of love into whatever they get their hands on.
Edit: I can't believe I misspelled Disgaea.

Just did another big update on the Nippon Ichi article. hg101.classicgaming.gamespy.com/nipponichi/nipponichi.htmNew things! -Disgaea 3 review -Additional notes on PSP and DS versions of Disgaea -Several sections expanded with more detail -Many more character profiles (especially for Disgaea and Makai Kingdom). I'm still not sure what to do with Soul Cradle because there's like a few dozen characters in that game. -More artwork, mostly for Disgaea 2 -A few more MP3s I'm pretty sure I got everything, but like a lot of stuff recently, I've been working on this on and off for a month, so I'm sure I missed something somewhere.

Nice comparison of Disgaea's portable versions. Now I know which one to get.

While the DS port has many problems like it was highlighted in the article, I feel that the top view of the battlefield really helps to make the game much faster to play, especially in the chaotic Item World. It's a lot easier to position your bow and gun users with an overhead map, you can easily see enemies behind huge columns or in deep pits that could be nearly invisible before and it's a lot easier to plan geo puzzles as well. Even with the tiny screens, you can see much farther that it was even possible in the PS2 and PSP versions with that feature. After playing this version, I wish that the other games on the PS2 had this feature as well.

I only have Disgaea 2 and Disagea DS so I can't really compare or recommend, even if both games are really close. I enjoyed more Disgaea DS over Disgaea 2 simply because of the overhead map, makes the game a lot less tedious to play.
