Wow! I was just playing Violent Storm before I came here! ;D Great stuff indeed, but I will have to agree that the first Crime Fighters game is... well, not great. I don't think it's the worst BEU ever made (Ever play Target: Renegade? Ugh...), but I only played through it once and beat the final guy... only to find myself in a quote/unquote "bonus stage" where I was raped by every boss in the game at the same time. That part alone took me at least a half-hour... maybe even a whole hour to finally beat. Sweet Jesus Macreedy... However, I have played through Vendetta and Violent Storm many more times. They're both excellent, but I'll have to give my slight edge to Vendetta for having the best overall feel to it. I even remember seeing the game at my local arcades in the 90's... sadly, I can't remember if I tried it out or not, but I'm glad to know of its awesomeness through MAME nowadays.

I played through the original Crime Fighters once and the humor seems very City Hunter-esque to me. Even the main character in the end looks abit like Ryo Saeba. Unfortunately, that's really the only thing the game has it going for.
I can see why they changed the sequel's title overseas, since Vendetta is a much better game overall. Really underrated IMO.
I don't think Violent Storm is really part of the Crime Fighters seroes, but I can understand why the game is often associated with them. I only played Violent Storm in MAME once and I don't think the game really impressed me that much. It did have an awesome soundtrack
I noticed a mistake in one paragraph.
Don't you mean Double Dragon? Well the first two arcade games didn't allow you to hair-grab Linda, but you could in the NES games.

Ever play Target: Renegade? Ugh... Now that was a bad beat-em-up. They even ripped off the main character sprite from "Double Dragon". There was another Renegade that came out for PC only titled Renegade III: The Final Chapter, where they added some silly time travel gimmick. Of course, I heard Bad Street Brawler is actually worse.

I believe it was referencing that you couldn't do Johnny Cage's split punch on Sonia. Ah, that makes sense now. In that case, he should've wrote "Like Johnny Cage's split punch in Mortal Kombat" to make things clear.

The insane quote from the ending if Crime Fighters hasn't been changed.
Goddamn is the original game a piece of shit. The other two are freaking fantastic, though. The weapon combat in Vendetta is possibly the best for any beat-em-up that I have played. I especially dig how you can throw buckets over the heads of enemies, like in Downtown Special.

Really? I swore I pasted it in there. It should be :
"Sorry for keeping you waiting, girls. Do you mind being kidnapped again... by me!?"
right?

If that's what I PMed you, then yes, that's what it should be. The original mistaken quote is still there, in the third to last paragraph about the original CF.

Hell yeah I'm big fan of this series.
I like Violent Storm the best. The whole game is like a reference to 80s Italian PA movies, soundtrack genius, and the best character designs from this series.

...80s Italian PA movies... Say what? post-apocalypse.co.uk/There are some italian PA reviews on that site, Bronx warriors comes to mind when playing Violent Storm. It's definately no Post Apocalyptic Catagorie A but certainly a Cat. B, with ruined cities and stuff. A great example would be Raiders of atlantis, not PA on the intial look, but much is destroyed by the flood: youtube.com/watch?v=cAjP_u1S0Dc2 cotnra heroes and a lot of PA Baddies, that 80s soundtrack, can't go wrong right?

Reading the article right now.
That "fat toad" must have some really low standards judging by the quality of the girls he kidnapped.
