4Kids had nothing to do with Naruto. Naruto was dubbed by ShoPro, a division of Viz (and also the same company that did Mega Man NT Warrior, though they did much better on Naruto).
I'm mostly familiar with Naruto through the manga, so filler isn't even an issue for me.

I read about up until the tournament and then all of the places that carried comics around here closed down because of some christian picket about them corrupting our youth or something.

Personally I'd love to find the NaruNerds and show them some REAL anime. To this end I've been hunting down anime episodes on Youtube and compiling links to them.
But for now, I'll mention: Youtube has subtitled Sailor Moon!

Probably. Okay look now, Though you don't think naruto is a good anime, See if you can watch last saturdays episode, Unlike most of them though it's filler sometimes they spend Time on everything in the filler rather then Cut/paste cels from earlier "Sagas" add some flashing and grunting in and call it a new season.

What bugs me the most is not the quality or lack of it, is that when fillers were announced, they only told us about half the time they were actually gonna spend on releasing fillers.

Ya know, I'm becoming sicker of hearing about Naruto each day.
Ya know what? Recently with the advent of used DVDs and budget anime, I'm starting to rediscover what I loved about anime in the first place... the new and unusual titles that I hadn't heard of. Good anime is like opening a treasure chest, wondering what's inside.
"Gall Force? What the heck is that? Maybe I should rent it..." "Here is Greenwood? What kind of title is that? Hmmm... it might just be good...." "Vampire Princess Miyu? Okay.... rent!"
Now it seems, like every anime on the shelves is something I've heard fanboys chime up about a million times, and the more I hear about something the less I want to see it. Worse is how predominant long-running TV Series are getting in our market... I don't want to get into a show where I have to watch 100 episodes to get the full story.
But anime still rocks.
