Rock on. I wouldn't blame if you couldn't get the Dragon or TRS-80 stuff working...I'm ashasmed to admit that I don't even know what they are myself, unless the TRS is that Texas Instruments computer...Thanks!

I havent been having much luck getting these working.
First of all, Amok! is actually a fan tribute of sorts from 1998, so I figure we don't really need to mention that.
Also, as far as I can tell, the releases for TRS-80 CoCo (a computer made by Radio Shack WAY back when) and Dragon 32/64 (which seems to have some kind of relation to the TRS-80) aren't even emulated. So, I guess we have to forget about those.
There's also a problem with the Emerson Arcade 2001 release. As far as I can tell, it hasn't been emulated, either.
I have looked EVERYWHERE for the MSX rom, but I can't find it. I can't even find confirmation that this has been emulated. Can anybody cofirm or deny this, and, if it exists, where can I get the rom? I don't need any assistance with MSX emulators.
Lastly, a question:
I have three versions of the rom for K-Razy Shoot-out. That should work with a Atari 5200 emulator, right? Well, I can't remember how the hell Atari++ works, even though I'm pretty sure that was what I played the Berzerk port with. How exactly do I get the game running in Atari++, and is there a better emulator for the thing?

I just tried the game on BlueMSX and it works great.

I had Shoot Out for the Atari 400...still have the cart/manual around here, actually. For some reason I never connected it it with the Berzerk. The controls were stupid though, and the bad guys would leave behind debris that killed you. Would you mind writing a brief blurb for that? It would save me the time trying to figure out what the hell I'm doing wrong with emulating it. Also, which games exactly are we going to put in the "related games" section? Anyway, I finally found the MSX rom, thanks to MP83, so here's a description about that: Other than the official ports of Berzerk, there are also a few clones that amount to little more than bootlegs of the game. Among these is Robot Wars for MSX. This game appears to take its sprites directly from the arcade release, but lasers and Evil Otto will change colors with the robots, and the robots will change color in a slightly different order. It also has the same controls and basic rules, but everything moves slower, and it's WAY easier, which takes away a great deal of the intensity that makes Berzerk work so well. Its mazes are a bit simplified, and, as far as I can tell, it also lacks the "bullet proof neck gap" trick, but it does contain digitized audio.

I found the ROMs for Amok/Super Amok for the Vic 20 here. Amok is in the 4k section and Super Amok is in the 8k section. I used Win Vice to emulate. I had to set them up for the correct expansion settings manually, but they both work. Also, Amok Vic 20 is a different game from the homebrew Odyssey 2 game and the game the O2 game is named after.

I can get Win Vice to run, but I can't get any games to start. What exactly should I be doing?
ALSO:
Discoalucard, I slightly rewrote the paragraph about the MSX game to make it less wordy.

Haha, I'll have to see if I can remember it. It's been easily 15 years or so since I played it. I've got an Atari 400/800 emulator around here somewhere though, so I'll see if I can get a ROM. Probably won't be until the weekend though. Actually, now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure they removed that glitch in the Atari 2600 version where the bullet could pass through your guy's neck. I remember reading about it when I was young, referring to the arcade version, and then going home and trying it, and never getting it work.

I can get Win Vice to run, but I can't get any games to start. What exactly should I be doing? Under one of the menus (forgot which one), there should be something called Vic settings that allows you to choose the type of expansion memory. The version on this site is a 4m prg cart file, so you load it on the $a000-$afff cartridge slot (according to the site with the cart version). The tape version of Amok I used required no expansion, but I don't know if that is the case with the cart one. One thing I forgot, is that I actually used the .tap version of Amok from here and got Super Amok from the other site because I couldn't find it elsewhere. The tape version can just be auto loaded. Super Amok has to be loaded into the memory of a different cartridge slot, if I remember correctly. That one needs 8k expansion. An Atari 800 version of Berzerk exists in prototype form. If I remember correctly, it's very similar to the 5200 version, but has some bugs that aren't in the 5200 version. I have no idea why the 800 version wasn't finished (if it really wasn't complete) and released.

I remember reading about it when I was young, referring to the arcade version, and then going home and trying it, and never getting it work. No, it's still there. I didn't get to play the arcade version until MAME (sadly, I never found a working machine anywhere... broken ones were a different story), but playing the 2600 version as a kid I used to get that trick to work quite a bit. It wasn't very easy, but it did work. Fun Fact: according to Bruce Campbell's book If Chins Could Kill, Sam Raimi once challenged Brian DePalma to a game of Berzerk (during the editing of Evil Dead, I think). Raimi won.

^^^ *simultaneous jaw dropping from awesomeicity and blood boiling in jealous rage* I really need to play more Berzerk and/or Frenzy myself. It's just simply a fast and fun game, that's all there is to it.
