Fair enough. Personally, I'd say that Suikoden I only exists to provide more depth to Suikoden II. Otherwise, it's a complete wash. Sgt. Joe is definitely a good character in the third game, though.

Great article. Before reading this, my knowledge regarding the series mostly consisted of Suikoden II, the only game in the series I've actually beaten (even that not with the best ending ). I'm just not into RPGs anymore with turn-based, random battle systems. Anyway, here's some mistakes I noticed (should be self-explanatory): suikoden.htmIt even goes to a point where the strategy is borderline brain dead, as most battles can be won with the to the auto-fight command. |
Other than that, everything else plays a lot like the original PS1 counterpart. . |
suikoden3.htmThe music is composed by Michiru Yamane, usually known for her work in the Castlevania series, as well as Keiko Fukami and Masahiko Kimura, the latter of whom also provided the soundtrack for Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow. |
suikoden5.htmEven Suikoden Tactics is technically a it is a spin-off, there are a few aspects in this game that still retains the overall Suikoden feeling. |
Both "battlefield" and "battle field" spellings are used in the page.

suikoden6.htmIt also test your patience with long-loading times and high-encounter rates. |
suikoden7.htmFor example, the army and duel battles are gone complete. |
Also, the quest guild,as introduced in Suikoden Tactics, is now implemented. |
Also, unite attackss are still around. |
suikoden8.htmThis Sukoden spin-off is in the Gameboy Advance, which was unusual at the time, because the Suikoden series had always been associated with the Playstation brand. |

I can agree with that. I was never much a fan of Suikoden I. The character portraits are so remarkably ugly, and the story just didn't seem to have the depth of the second and third games.

One thing I can say about Suikoden II: Luca lived up to the hype.
That is one insane villain.

"Die pig!" Sephiroth is just an emo kid with mommy issues compared to Blight. Technically speaking, so is Blight. He went nuts because of something that happened to his mother...

>_< You guys are killing me with all of those grammar corrections. It's sort of embarrassing. This is the first time I've ever written an actual article to the public.

Relax bub. A few dozen typos won't undermine such a great addition to the site.

yeah, should be a "didn't" in that last line. which kinda sucks, because, unlike with emulation, you know you'd always be able to do the save import. I'm pretty sure you can import your PSX save state on a PSP when you are playing emulated copies of Suikoden 1 and 2.

Bit of a pain though. You have to remember the exact ID you gave 1, when you convert 2.

Solid article, though it might be worth throwing in mention of the cooking (and other) mini game(s) in Suikoden II.

Suikoden III's theater play creator is amazing.
By the way, that's the only game I bothered to get all 108 stars in.

Suikoden III's theater play creator is amazing. By the way, that's the only game I bothered to get all 108 stars in. Me too. I liked that you could recruit them at any time. I got all the way through Suikoden II without doing any of the sidequests or using a walkthrough, so I was pretty pissed I was locked out of the good ending without having to start over. I just bought a DexDrive, downloaded a save game, and worked it from there. Suikoden II is a great game, but that's monumental bullshit.
