The random kickass game music that was too good to live. Reminds me of how they blocked Ridge Racer/Ridge Racer Revolution/Rave Racer music from Youtube here in the West. ... The weird part? Rage Racer and Type 4's soundtracks are still up! The way music is portrayed to be under fair use or not is byzantine indeed. Fortunately the entire disk as one long file is available: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ru2uzhqQ3a8#t=30m4s30m 4s is what I was going for, but this entire soundtrack is one of the best of its year. I can't even believe a major AAA super huge game from 2013 has an official score (not just licensed music) with a bunch of original Tangerine Dream songs. Oh GTA 5, you were almost amazing.

[One Man and His Droid]
I'd argue this is one of Hubbard's best tunes, outside of Warhawk/Proteus.

This tune just exemplifies the pure energy of this game. I can just hear all the explosions and shit in my head listening to this. Always irks me when people say the Genesis had a weak soundchip. Or that it was inferior to the SNES. Those people are deaf or have wax buildup.

Falcom is generally known for their high energy rock/metal music more than anything else, but my favorite track in Trails in the Sky SC is this nice, calm tune:
I'd rate this up there next to some of my all-time favorite Falcom tracks.
Ys III's "Be Careful" is still the best, though. Except the SNES version of the track. Yuck.

Axiom Verge is one of my favorite games of 2015, in no small part due to having a very atmospheric and evocative soundtrack.Picking a personal favorite was hard, but in the hand I chose the aptly named Otherworld for the wonderfully alien atmosphere it evokes; it really makes you feel like you are exploring unknown and hostile territory:

I'm not particularly fond of any Metal Slug games past 3, but they DID bring some monstrously metal music with them:

I've been playing Keio Flying Squadron 2 for the Saturn and I love its credits music:

While not my favorite table from Pinball Dreams (it's very good and has a solid old school feel but personally I prefer Steel Wheel), Ignition wins in the music department:

Ah, I love Ignition so much, even if it's really not easy to score well on due to some shots (the leftmost orbit and the FUEL lights) being harder than they should be. But its music is very much the "first level song" of Pinball Dreams and very much deserves the title of Kick-Ass Tune.

Possible repost, but it isn't called METAL Slug for nothing.

Black Knight 2000: the proof that FM synth makes everything about a thousand times more awesome and that Williams were the Western gods of FM metal, and a pretty kickass pinball machine to boot!
Also, fun fact: the guy who designed this table and voiced the titular Black Knight is the same one who voiced Shao Kahn in the original Mortal Kombat trilogy! He's actually more of a (legendary) pinball designer than voice actor, heh.
