I still haven't gotten past the giant octopus in PS Zero. I don't know if I need to grind or just play better. It doesn't help that my AI team mates always die right away.

Seriously how do you beat the last boss as Hucast, it seems totally impossible The only advice I can give in this respect is that Daggers are a Hucast's best friend. Each combo lands (I think) five hits instead of just three, and they allow for quick attacks, so you can land a few hits and still have time to roll out of the way. Oh, and make sure to have moon and, I think star (the group healing ones) in your secondary pallet. Your AI buddies are pretty useless, but having them around does prevent every attack from being directed at you, specifically. I still haven't gotten past the giant octopus in PS Zero. I don't know if I need to grind or just play better. It doesn't help that my AI team mates always die right away. Yeah, the octopus is everyone's sticking point, it seems. The first time I beat him, I swear, it was a 30 minute battle! Grinding helps a little, but yeah, this is the point where you need to strategize, make good use of evasion, and just stay alive long enough to land some decent attacks. Like I said to Fap, heal your party, even if you're just using them as cannon fodder, it's still worth it.

Yeah, I try keeping my party members alive, but the last boss comes right on the heels of another boss fight (because he is Necron) and you can only have 5 moons/stars at a time, which coupled with the AI's absolute retardedness (why the fuck is my "healer" charging ahead and getting murdered) means I wind up having to do the last battle alone. I'll try and see if I can find a good pair of daggers. I've been concentrating mostly on swords since the start of the game since they have the highest damage, though, so any daggers I've found have been fed to a Mag. Are the daggers you get from the photon drop merchant any good? This is honestly the first part of the game I've had any trouble with whatsoever, besides maybe those surfing robots in the reactor core. The difficulty curve for this game is fucking bullshit.

For where you are in the game, the daggers from the photon drop merchant might be a little underpowered, but I don't really remember all that well. But yeah, I got a rare drop sword near the core, it was super powerful, but I couldn't land a single hit on those surfing robots, and a couple other enemies were just too fast, so I went back to daggers.
You might try messing with the AI settings under the Tactics menu. The few times I've done this, I don't think I've ever noticed a difference, and having to do it during battle is a strange oversight, but there are options to make your party prioritize healing, or ranged attacks.
Maybe prioritizing agility over strength breaks the game (my first playthrough was as a Human Ranger, and I wound up sticking with dual wielded pistols for all the same reasons I used Daggers as a Cast Hunter) but I didn't find the difficulty too bad. I still haven't tackled that 100 floor post-game tower, though. That shit's ridiculous, and the characters talk way too much, and never have anything interesting to say.
So in this run, as a Newman Force, I'm about halfway through. Went faster than I though (or there's something I'm forgetting) but this time, I'm ignoring all the side quests and rushing straight through, so as to unlock hard mode as fast as I can, so the boss battles have been a bit tougher than before.
But anyway, not to turn this into the PSZ thread...

Well, as Suikoden IV seems like I'll be spending a lot of time just trying to gather together Potch to sharpen my weapons, I decided in-between I'll work on another game I picked up, so I started up Shadow of Destiny tonight (PS2 version).
My first thought? The voice acting is pretty terrible. My second? It does seem like a very interesting game, and I like the fact that the town, although small, isn't just a mesh of important buildings, and some are just there to, at least at present, seem like the place is a real town. I got up to Chapter 3, and I'll probably play through some more tomorrow night.

I'm dividing my time between Ratchet & Clank (the original), Perfect Dark (XBLA), and Final Fantasy II (IV) (And Ys!) Ratchet & ClankThe game is going great. I love this series, but never checked out the first one. Ratchet's voice is weird, I'm pretty sure they changed actors (for the better). The writing is awesome too! I'll be replaying the whole series again, it'll be fun stuff! I need to rebuy Going Commando and Deadlocked, and then buy Size Matters and Secret Agent Clank, which I know aren't nearly as good, but whatever. I'll also get the PS3 ones once I get one a PS3. It's weird not being able to strafe, and if you recentre your camera you lose your momentum, but otherwise it's so great. Perfect DarkI'm at the second mission and have been playing a bunch of Combat Simulator (multiplayer) mode with my brother and a whackload of bots. It's wicked. This is probably the most fun I've had in a FPS for a long time, possibly ever. Final Fantasy IVI'm at the Dwarf place now, but I can't remember what I need to do next. Oh well, it's going well! Ys I & IITG-16 version I just entered Darm Tower. Yikes! It's gonna be fun stuff though, I'm excited. I'll play a bunch tonight, or tomorrow. I've already got some Perfect Dark and Ratchet down for today, so I'm going to focus a lot on either FFIV or Ys. Probably Ys - I played Final Fantasy IV a lot last night. We'll see.

I'm putting PSZ on the back-burner for the time being. I hit a brick wall, might need to grind a little, try out some different techniques, since debuffing doesn't seem to help much against bosses, I could probably use that pallet space for something else.
So for now, I'm gonna get started on Pokemon, but I'd rather play this in bits over a long period of time instead of all at once like I did with Diamond. (to be fair, I was on the road at the time, and had literally nothing else to do) and maybe squeeze in some time to play something that isn't an RPG.
Speaking of which, I'm pretty much done with Nostalgia. I think it's a charming little game, and I've got nothing but nice things to say about it, but in all honesty, I just can't be bothered to actually finish it.

Deadly Premonition (360) - This game is awesome. I'm in Episode 2 part 2 right now, and this game is often insane in a silly way, but when it wants to be disturbing, it's really disturbing.
Legend of the Mystical Ninja (SNES) - Really tough. I just got to Warlock Zone V: Ninja Castle. I have no idea how far into the game that is, but the level I just beat was insanely tough, so I hope I'm nearing the end.
Super Metroid (SNES) - I just got this game a few days ago. My history with the Metroid series has not been too positive. I've had the NES Metroid for as long as I can remember, but I've always really disliked it. I just never had fun with it. I didn't like the lack of control, or constantly getting lost, or not having any idea what I was supposed to be doing. Then a few years ago I got Metroid Prime on Gamecube, and I at least enjoyed it more than Metroid, but still not enough to keep playing after the first few hours. I especially disliked scanning, and I'm not a big fan of the first-person perspective either.
I decided to get Super Metroid since it's fairly often called one of the best games not just on the SNES, but of all time, so this was the last chance I was going to give the series before writing it off. I've been playing it for the past few days, and it's kind of fun. I like it way more than the original Metroid, and I also am enjoying this more than Metroid Prime. I'm currently stuck in the game though, with no idea how to get out of this pit I'm in, but hopefully I figure it out soon.

5 on 5 in Perfect Dark is awesome. I'm gonna do it with equal teams next time, unlike the random specialized sims we had last time. Probably 3 normals, 1 hard and 1 of us on each team. Will be fun.

I'm currently stuck in the game though, with no idea how to get out of this pit I'm in, but hopefully I figure it out soon. I got stuck there before, too. I also got stuck in another similar area. The area you're stuck in has a bird-like thing, right? What you're supposed to do is run from the far left over to there, crouch down, and then jump up (and I think press up or something). You'll go flying upward and out of the pit, crashing into the ceiling. The creature there is supposed to be teaching you that move, but it's a little obscure on how to figure it out. Provided you're stuck at the other part (or, perhaps, if you aren't, but will probably end up there, anyway) with the 3 little guys (etecoons I think they're called), that's where you learn the off-the-wall jump (which can be used to sequence break if you're skilled with it). You have to jump up on a wall, then, as you press into it, turn around and jump in the other direction. It's really difficult to get used to doing and often ticks some people off, but it's not too hard to master once you've got some practice down.

Played DOA for the first time in, like, ten years. I was really bored so I downloaded the demo for DOA4 and played it for a good three hours.
I don't know why, but I absolutely loved it. It was extremely fun even with just the six characters. Maybe it's because it's a new fighting franchise to me or something but it felt like a really fast, really smooth Tekken. The animations were pretty fantastic (insert jiggle joke here). I loved the counters once I got the hang of them. I'd really consider buying it, but I don't think the online community is very lively anymore.
.....La Mariposa is awesome.

Stupid turret guns in Mission 2. I'm still boned... I'll figure it out though! I guess I should use the boxes, which I tried, but I'll try again and all will go okay.

Thanks I figured out the bird-pit on my own, but I had to go look up help online to get past the pit with the etecoons. Wall jumping is a real pain, but after what felt like an hour, I finally was able to climb out of the pit

Right now it's Pokemon Yellow. It's actually my roommate's copy and he never finished it. I've brought it over for fiddling around with Pokemon Stadium and for testing with the Super GB, since I figured (correctly) that it would be the first thing to show up in my series of SNES purchases.
My copy of Donkey Kong Country doesn't want to load the first level. The music plays but the screen stays black. Nothing seems to load past that point. I have no idea what the issue is.

Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing on the DS. It's truly phenomenal. SUMO Digital have really outdone themselves. Some may just write it off as a Mario Kart clone, but for me, it feels a lot closer to the SEGA arcade racing games of old, with generous amounts of OutRun 2 applied. I actually prefer it to Mario Kart DS. The drifiting mechanic is fantastic, and the track design is exceptional. Also got a bunch of stuff from DSi Ware. Dark Void Zero is amazing. It truly is like a long lost NES title. Kinda weird having such open ended gameplay in a NES-like game, but it's great. Also got Asphalt 4, Castle of Magic, Photo Dojo, and Planet Puzzle League. All are well worth the money! Also picked up Flower, Sun and Rain for dirt cheap on DS. Still have no idea what the game is about, but its entertaining enough
