Awesome! I remembered reading it, but last night I couldn't find where and wanted to make sure I wasn't making things up.

Shit, Namco just got my money. This new Splatterhouse really doesn't interest me, but I'd love to have all three original releases.

You would likely pay the same amount to get the original games, so if you've got the systems you could always just drop $60 on those.

I'm glad we get the Japanese arcade game in a non-MAME, non VC-form. And not to sound trite, but congratulations Rob; it's nice to see someone rewarded for their hard work promoting their passion, I'd be doing backflips if I were in your shoes (ok, not really, but in my mind I would).

True, but this way I get a new game plus the old ones and Achievements. Also, I think Rob being in the credits is a first for the community. Can't say I remember Kurt being mentioned in any of the recent Castlevania games.

Then again, I don't think the makers of Lords of Shadow gave special thanks to JRR Tolkien or Peter Jackson for like, ripping them off, so he's in good company.

Thanks Joe. Despite the minor misspelling of my last name (completely accidental, Dan Tovar personally apologized to me for not catching it in time), this is a huge thing for me. And the way I see it, a misspelled credit is better than no credit at all. Also, I think Rob being in the credits is a first for the community. Can't say I remember Kurt being mentioned in any of the recent Castlevania games. I'd have to agree with that. Namco Bandai - at least, the team working on and promoting Splatterhouse - has been extremely generous with keeping me on top of things, even giving me access to the press FTP server so I don't have to get screenshots and videos from other news sources. The past two years have been rather amazing.

Questions: Are the original Splatterhouse carts really that pricey? Is it a rarity issue or is it just people pumpin' up the price for the hell of it? Also, any acknowledgment of Wanpaku Graffiti?

Questions: Are the original Splatterhouse carts really that pricey? Is it a rarity issue or is it just people pumpin' up the price for the hell of it? On any given day on eBay, the TG16 and Genesis games seem to be going for anywhere between $25-$40, with some auctions going up to $60-$80 or more, especially for Splatterhouse 3. Wanpaku's currently up in the $50s. Also, any acknowledgment of Wanpaku Graffiti? Yes, and it's because of me. I felt Wanpaku Graffiti had to be represented somewhere in the game. If we weren't going to get the game itself as a bonus, I had to at least try to get a reference slipped in. For example, look at the second Xbox achievement listed here. There's a possibility - a slim one, but a possibility - someone on the team may have known about it, but Dan Tovar had no idea what it was until I mentioned it to him in Worcester. When I told him it was had become a favorite phrase among Splat-fans, he Twittered it from his phone, then I suggested that it should be in the game somewhere. Looks like he took my suggestion seriously. There may be other references in-game, but I'm not 100% sure yet.

Is there a reason Wanpaku Graffiti wasn't included along with the rest of the original trilogy?

Because it's an obscure SD spinoff that very few people outside Japan are even aware of (a number which apparently doesn't include the developers).

It just wouldn't fly with the intended demographic.

Still it's awesome they put the reference in there.

Is there a reason Wanpaku Graffiti wasn't included along with the rest of the original trilogy? Here's the answer, straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak:

I guess I can understand that, but at the same time... It's the only other game in the series! I mean, I'm quite pleased with what we're getting already, don't get me wrong, but why not go the full mile when you're already three quarters there?
And really, its cutesy demeanor would be hilarious in contrast with all the evisceration and brutality of the main game. Maybe it's just because I'm a fan of confusing people.
...Well, if there is DLC, I wouldn't be above paying a couple extra bucks for it.
